Its do-able until it’s not is my experience in that situation
Ice and frozen footing puts a hard stop on getting much of anything done, and if you are riding after work, daylight is a limiting factor as well. I recently moved from a fabulous boarding barn in terms of trails which were an option for most of the winter unless there was melting and ice. Last winter, the arena wasn’t rideable for a good portion of the winter and it was a MESS for a while in the spring. That’s a big reason why I moved to barn with an indoor because I didn’t have any consistency for training for darn near half the year.
