average daily training distance and times

Nope, didnt forget that he’s out of the training side of horses…as I am out of the galloping side, LOL!

Well assuming you survived you would get fit again real quick by galloping that many miles a day. I wonder how you keep track? Eventually going around and around again has to blend together.

I kind of prefer the “vanilla” style. The horses know what is expected of them on a fairly daily basis. They do develop into “little soldiers.” I love a very regular work routine. 6-7 days or longer if the horse required it due to illness or other physical ailment.
Jog a bit, forward or backing up, start at a slow lope and pick it up down the lane, teaching them to relax and where they need to accelerate. I want them mentally tough for the last quarter as well as taking a hold and picking it up. We short course (1 mile) or train 1 1/2 miles. Not often two if ever.
If a horse is jogging, dependant on the situation they will jog a mile or two. Fairly simple. Horses are creatures of habit, IME they do will with a consistant routine.

Dickenson might be out of racing, but the “mad scientist” can sure make one heck of a “fake” track:eek::wink:

The big question is would I survive day two at this point…

Everyonce in awhile I’m tempted to do the math on how many miles I’ve actually galloped. 25 years pretty consistant, getting on around 10 a day.

Wait, I just did it… 70 horses a week, times 52 weeks a year, times 25…91,000.00 miles, Good Lord no wonder I’m tired!

I wouldn’t survive mile two at this point, let alone day two.
