Baby Green Hunter Moment VIDEO UPDATE on p 10

I am glad to hear your greenie is going well! Kinda odd a trainer would think showing in anything less than 3’6 at a rated show is a waste of time given the Pre-Green and Adequan divisions offer great mileage before asking a horse to step into the 3’6 ring. I don’t know if they can get the same experience at local shows, but obviously any mileage is good!

I’ve been working with one that one day over the summer realized there is no fence around the ring and decided to duck out. Luckily he never realized not going forward was an option and I was able to ride him through his temper tantrum, took about two rides with my trusty dressage whip and a shortened martingale. He no longer thinks leaving the ring on his own merit is a wise idea. I guess they all try it at some point, just easier to deal with at home!

Any pictures?

Am I supposed to pretend that I didn’t notice you are taking a not-so-subtle little dig at my trainer’s game plan and that you are telling a little story that shows how you handled your greenie better than I handled mine?

Okey dokey.

Congrats on successfully working through a tough spot with your greenie!
That’s wonderful he has such a good rider who is able to ride him through it to show him that not going forward isn’t an option. Thumbs up! You should definitely pat yourself on the back.

Sorry, but I’m not in the mood for passive aggressive today.
“Frienemies” are so boring.

My lessons are at night after work under the lights so I am not sure pics would turn out, but I am going again tonight after work and can bring the camera/video in case someone is around to give it a try.

In the meantime if you would like to check up on our schooling show dressage scores to verify honesty you are welcome to do so at www.houstondressagesociety.org. His name is Boy Wonder, we showed at Stonehaven and the two Sonesta shows.
Have at.

If I seem tired of the oh-so-innocent b*tchy subtext on this thread, it’s because I really, really am.

Seems to me you questioned it a bit, at least the way I read it. I have to say I enjoyed your video last winter and never followed thread until today. Glad all is going well for you now.

cute horse:)

Let’s just say my Trainer has a little more faith in my eye than I do!

He seems to think this is all going to be roses and I am like, “OK, you DO realize you are the poor fool who has to stand in the ring teaching us how to do all this, right?”

It is evident that I have the right horse and the right trainer and now the job is on me to develop into the right rider.

I have no desire to “check up on you.” I just like pictures.

Nope, not at all. I personally wouldn’t dismiss showing in the rated divisions at lower than 3’6. My greenie did do the Low Hunters at “A” shows last winter and it was a HUGE experience for him. He would have gotten good mileage at Local shows as well, no doubt, and I believe his indoor show experience helped him a lot with his training progress at the time.

My intent in sharing my experience was to show it’s a common thing for horses to try. No where did I imply my horse is better or I’m a better rider. I was very close to losing patience, a big no-no obviously, and probably the only thing that saved me was the fact my horse kept moving, granted sometimes that was sideways and NOT forward and it made me reevaluate what was missing from our training for him to try that. And it is one of those things I’d rather have pop up at home-I have NO idea what I would’ve done had he done those same antics at a show. So, kudos to you-you kept on trying when he kept backing/stopping that day.

Sheesh. No reason to get your breeches in a bunch.

This thread makes my week, have I said that yet? I think all of the “COTH experts” should post videos and photos like this

Oh, in that case, here you go.

And BarnBum, …

Yeah, well posts like yours make me month. Or maybe I’m weak, too.

Glad to hear he’s doing well, Meup. Sounds like you guys have a great plan worked out for next year!

I think sometimes people forget that the not so great moments are what develops us into well rounded riders with a bag full of tricks and experiences to draw from. A year ago you took a chance posting something less than perfect. I’m sorry it wasn’t recieved in the manner in which it was intended.

How one handles those moments say a lot about us as riders. And how we handle them when they happen to others says a lot about who we are as people.

Ah rugbug, good to see you too, I wish your post made enough sense that I could respond to it, anyway, good to see you’re still ten years older than me and rocking the IRH  you gonna post some video too?:yes::yes: Idiots like me have so much to learn from the likes of you and meupatdoes. My “service provider” doesn’t have jack on you two

You know, maybe, at some time in your life, you’ll choose kindness instead.

kinda like when you harassed me for three days straight when I first posted on these boards :lol:, clearly kindness doesn’t register with the likes of you. I’m just playing your way now. Have I told you how much I love your video and photos?

barnbum81, you are really nasty. I’ve certainly gotten a bad taste in my mouth from many of meupatdoes’ posts, but your replies here are harsh and inappropriate.

meupatdoes, despite some of my past posts, I have always admired your dedication to not only your riding, but also to every aspect of your horses’ well-being. They are lucky to be owned by you. I apologize for not expressing that sooner than now. Good luck!

I’m nasty for saying I like her video and pics? Stellar. I was getting sick of my nice girl image anyway. Plus it just gave meup and rug cause to try and bash me off the boards.

Funny.

You seem to be trying everything in your power to get us to bash you and all you’ve got so far is a “…”.

Hm.

I’m as shocked as you are, although I have found that bullies are only bullies until they are bullied back. Funny how psychology works. Of course it could just be that I don’t go around bashing people and then posting videos and pics like this…hmmmmmmm
