Baby strollers for around the farm?

I have worn baby in my k’tan while cleaning stalls and feeding with no issues. I have a Baby Trend Expedition and it’s OK, but it feels a bit flimsy to me - especially in the fold-up handle. It does fine on relatively flat ground at a slow pace, trying to push it over uneven ground it gets pretty bouncy and top-heavy. I’ve also had issues with the front wheel and “speed wobble” even just while walking on pavement; you can lock the front wheel in the straight position, but that obviously makes turning difficult (and mine isn’t aligned quite straight, so it pulls to one side).

I also thought I’d use a playpen in the barn more. In reality though, most of the time it’s either been too hot or too cold, and my baby hated it anyway. The horses have never minded the baby, crying or not, and my older gelding is actually mesmerized by the stroller. Currently, I do outside chores and ground work with the ponies while she’s napping, we have a video baby monitor that has been invaluable.

Our former barn owner kindly gave me a used Zoomer stroller so that my son and I could navigate the farm a little easier and watch my daughter’s lessons. It was similar to this one: http://www.dynacorpcatalog.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?dynacorp103/40040. That stroller took us everywhere, and when we were finished with it, it was regifted again.

This has nothing to do with this thread, but on the radio today they said that rats were jumping into baby strollers in New York - to get crumbs of food. Don’t go there with baby!! Rats are out of control there and people are demanding action.

I had a Bob stroller and a Britax stroller and I used them each maybe 3 times across 2 kids. All 3 times were at horseshows with an infant. My horses are also at home (and across a gravel driveway), and it turned out it was so much easier to leave the baby inside while I fed. Like so much easier that I don’t think I ever ended up feeding and doing general chores with a kid in the barn when they were really little. May sound unrealistic as you’re planning, but they nap so much when they’re little that it’s actually pretty easy.

I had a good baby monitor (which was way more useful and important to me than my stroller!) and I would take the baby monitor down to the barn with me so I could hear if they woke up. It also worked great as the kids got older and the naps turned into one nap in the middle of the day - that was my riding time each day.
