Badger

Normally, yes. This time… IDK. Couldn’t have been. But they have a block that they rest on in the middle (to raise them high enough to discourage the deer from jumping, and they would have been hooked together at the bottom, and both resting on that block in the middle. One was pushed out 90 degrees from that configuration. The other one had the camera attached to it. So IDK what went on there the night before last.

But, the badger is gone this morning. At least for now. The burrows were NOT re-opened this morning. I hope he stays gone. I presume that if he comes back, the first thing we will see (other than the badger sitting in the middle of the entrance to the arena) is the burrows re-opened up for use.

Is there a badger sized gap between the bottom of the gates and the ground? Badgers are fairly flat. I wonder why it wouldn’t have just gone under?

Your barn is an interesting place lately.

I bet it went under but was too tall and lifted one, opening it along the way.

Is the Badger staying away?

Not nice to mention, but not seeing it might be the possibility of badger setting up a “winter den.” Looking them up, badgers do not actually hibernate, but they do sleep very deeply in dens for long periods over winter. Maybe seasonal signs are telling it to look for a den?

Hope not!

He’s still gone. Burrows have not been re-opened. No sign of him here.
We only had the one marmot. The cupboards are bare for a badger here. Besides, there was that mean horse who tried pretty hard to stomp on him… apparently. DH says it was enough of an attack to back the badger off, he was watching it happen. DH did not throw himself between the badger and the horse to protect the horse from being injured ROTFLMAO!!!
