Is the course walk w/ Lucinda Green open to the public? How does one sign up?

I believe it is and I think you sign up on the website? the person I’m going with signed us up for that, sorry I don’t have more info.

They seem to be sold out.

but it’s a bit confusing;

This has really amused me with its precision:
Meet at Fence 2 at 1:37 pm for 2 pm move off.

I’m doing a course walk with Ginny Elliott on Friday, courtesy of the Horse Trials Support Group.

My main tip for Saturday is ARRIVE EARLY. Sounds so obvious, but once you’ve spent three hours queueing on tiny country lanes and missing the start of XC because you thought getting there at 9am would suffice… oh and radio Badminton is actually pretty good for when you’re sitting in those inevitable queues.

I’m not sure where my long post disappeared to?!

My tip/suggestion for XC day - assuming the weather in nice - is to head to the Luckington lane car park. It’s out on a limb at the far point of the course but is generally quieter and good for a picnic. As you are there for all days you won’t need to visit the shops that day if you like your sanity.

Luckington lane isn’t on the main routes, so head south out of Tetbury (main route to Badminton), but before you get to Westonbirt, turn left at the Hare & Hounds hotel crossroads (signed Sherston). Follow to the end and at T junction turn right. Stay on that road through Pinkney, Sherston & Luckington. Once out of Luckington there is a turning to Badminton on your right - this will now be signposted to the car park (and it’s only in use for Xc day)

You just fixed that !!

I cant wait to see Mr Bass go! I will be glued to the screen for XC day. Also EN did a decent write up about all horses entered.

Anyone know what happened to Selena O’Hanlon & Foxwood High? There was a post on (I believe) Horse & Hound this morning indicating they’re out. Very gutting if so!

Showing withdrawn on the entry list. Ugh!!

I read something on Twitter - likely either EN or H&H - saying he didn’t feel right on his last gallop so they’ve withdrawn.

Is this Fox-Pitts’ first 5***** since his fall?. Only 2 Germans?

No he was def at Badminton last year and I have a feeling he had been to either Pau or Lehmeulen prior to that

Palmero withdrawn.

Minor injury apparently. Really heartbreaking.

So sad and sorry for Selena and Woody’s owners. Selena posted on FB that he didn’t feel right in his gallop.

Looks like Ingrid is out, what a bummer, but Woodge Fulton is in!

This is SO COOL, thanks for posting!

I found the video link, such a wonderful glimpse into eventing history: https://www.badminton-horse.co.uk/commemorative-cross-country-course/

The Beeb are doing live coverage online if you have a VPN.

Thank you so much for that link.

I’m having a learning moment reading the waypoints. When you click on the second waypoint, it brings up a table with distances and speeds. Unless I’m reading it absolutely wrong, the first Badminton’s steeplechase was 10 jumps on a course that was 2! miles and 216 yards long at a speed of 656 yards per minutes (in kilometers, it would be 3600 meters long at a speed of 600 meters per minute. Horses who could run such a long steeplechase, cool out on roads and tracks on an 8,460 meter course and then run a 6300 meter long cross country at a much slower pace than Advanced now uses (450 meters per minute for 14 minutes) are entirely different animals than the ones that now event.
