I’m watching on catchup but I agree. Eric Winter was right and I’m only a few minutes in but doubt I’m going to be proved wrong
We were there yesterday and the footing was terrible for spectators, ankle deep mud in many parts of the village, even ankle deep in the porta-loos, never seen anything like it. Can see that the course was very heavy going for the horses and that’s referenced by the very small number going forward to SJ today (will see who vets out as well).
We were cheering for Bill Levett who’s been around FOREVER, and did half of the course with his air vest activated, but didn’t finish.
Olly has clearly had some media training since his last cluster, and has softened his media “appearance” significantly, it can’t hide his riding style though and he needs to have a hard look at himself - it’s becoming too frequent.
For those in the UK, there’s a package on BBC2 from 2-4ish today that summarises the past few days of competition.
Your source is wrong on that one lol
Show jumping is supposed to start at 6:30 eastern US time, correct? I’m not seeing a live stream link on the Badminton TV page though
Same for me
Did the SJ start time change?
Nope, if you go to Badminton Radio you can hear they started on time
livestream not working for me either. listening to Radio Badminton
Can we get Badminton radio in the US? Why would they not be live-streaming?
There’s a link on the Badminton TV page, works well but I want to watch what I paid for!
Well, it’s up but I missed both US riders. Grrrrr…
Sometimes I see him ride and wonder if his horses’ backs hurt and it’s a vicious cycle of defensive riding that’s causing the issues. He’s in better shape than I’ll ever be and I don’t belive it’s a weight thing.
ETA: I’m not saying all his horses have this issue, I just noticed it was very apparent with Copper Beech.
Katherine Coleman has the only clear round in the morning session.
Well done!
She had time, no jumping faults though!
I’m not seeing it?
Her horse is phenomenal. I knew it would jump well today, thing is scopey as hell. A foot over everything yesterday!
It was on their story, so it’s probably past the 24 hour window by now.
SJ 1st group is done, but I’m watching it on the live stream, as if it were live.
It is really apparent that this ground also is wet and holding. Like XC, it needs a very precise trip to overcome the conditions, when the conditions are working against that precision.
Katherine Coleman & Monbeg Senna — wow!!!
She knew exactly how to get that horse around clear. The only clear round so far.
Her riding style is seat bones way back in the saddle with feet forward. Almost leaning back. A consistent posture. That was her style all the way around xc as well. Nothing wrong with it, it is very much working. She’s clearly a strong athlete.
I don’t know if she normally rides like that or if that’s how she’s coping with the holding ground. She makes it work.
And smiling!
