Badminton;

Tami Smith looked lovely in her dress at the jog.

I’m always so impressed by the caliber of grooming and the fitness of these horses. They’re just stunning.

A few thoughts after watching the jog…

Such incredible grooming of the gray horses, just glowing with their white tails.

One nit to pick, blacking the hooves of a horse with white socks, to me, is not an attractive look. Perhaps it’s a new thing and I’m old but I was taught that it was a grooming mistake, which detracted from the beauty of the horse, and I agree.

If I was jogging a very fit horse in front of a huge audience (in person, online and on television) I would consider, when choosing my clothes, what I would look like if I ended up flat on my face. Short skirts would be out for me for that reason. Of course these ladies are brave souls who are confident in their ability to remain upright.

Totally agree! Having seen people face plant at worst and kicking off shoes when running at best, I think something practical is only sensible. Piggy March didn’t wear the very stylish hat she was kitted out with by a company (forget which one) because she has suffered too many hat failures in the past.

I was not able to parse the statement that Badminton put out on Instagram following the problems with the stream (pixelating, freezing, unintelligible audio). It sounded like they are dumping the company that provided the stream for the jog, and somehow shifting over to the BBC’s coverage – but it was unclear to me what will be available to people ( especially those without access to the BBC) who already bought the Badminton TV live-stream package. Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

Eek!

I was seriously thinking of buying the coverage, but now I need to rethink it?

What would you do for a hoof that is stripey? Hoof black, or just clear polish? My mare has vertical dark stripes on her otherwise light front hooves; the stripes extend down from the palomino spots on her coronary bands. She has white “anklets” with these spots in them.

There’s nothing amiss and nothing to worry about. One bunch has always done thwjogs and today was clumsy but good news the rest is the other bunch with whom there’s never been an issue.

It’s all good.

I’ve never groomed a horse with stripey hooves, but I’ve seen people use black on the black stripes of the hoof and clear on the white and then, once it’s dried, clear over it all.

I’d go with the clear, or experiment, and see what you like with her particular coloring. It also will depend on how much time you want to put in to doing hooves. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m dating myself, but they used to have one–called the Broken Bridge–on the Preliminary course at Masterson Station in Lexington going back to before the KY Horse Park was a venue. Scary as crap, rode great.

A wise lady always selects footwear first for whatever the occasion then selects clothes to match the shoes. At least that’s what I’m told by my well dressed-lady friends.

well, three minutes late for the start of the second group. With the Americans of course.

Oh this is entirely hypothetical, as she’s retired. When I did show her, I just made sure her hooves were clean, and didn’t use polish.

it would be nice if we could have seen the rides

Right? I woke up early on my day off for this!

I got up at 4:30 to watch and saw two rides! They broke for a short break and haven’t been back. Looks like Tammy is in second but I would have liked to see the ride!

We haven’t had any issues at all! Some lag but otherwise good. I think we did refresh after the break

It’s on the Next Level Eventing FB page if you want to watch.

Yahoo! Absolutely lovely test by Amanda Pottinger on Just Kidding. Biased because I’m a Kiwi but also I love seeing the little ex-racehorses out there right in touch with the leaders.
