me, too. still checking in daily. thanks so much for all you still do for us : )
Yes, thank you, VB.
I also want to add my thanks to VB and Alex for continuing to post here. I still check every day and there are many articles I would not have seen if not for these two good people. The article about Dr. R. only reaffirms what I thought about him all along. He is a wonderful surgeon but more than that, a caring, loving person who is not afraid to show how much his patients matter to him. Barbaro was lucky to be in his capable hands for 8 months and he was hurting just like the rest of us on that Monday in January.
Dr R claims he felt privileged to work with Bobby! I say we are all priviliged to have Dr R work with Bobby. He is a class act and I will never forget him for all he did for Bobby!
Thanks to VB and Alex! I still check in daily for updates and tidbits of our Bobby!
Go Bobby go!!!

VB just wanted to let you knnow that even though most do not post any more we are still here…Thanks again for everything…
Another New Yorker echoing the same sentiment. I go light a candle for Bobby every day and then come here to see what great news VB has brought us! Many thanks again VB.
PS. When I lit my candle for Bobby there were 2993 candles from 58 countries lit for him.
And a tear just ran down my cheek from reading the article on Dr. Richardson.
thanks for all the continued updates. They mean alot to me.
VB,
Thanks! Both articles about Dr. Richardson’s talk were wonderful!
I love Dr R!!!

Me, too. Thanks, VB!
Update 1542: Delaware Park has named a stakes race for Barbaro: BARBARO MEMORIALIZED WITH DELAWARE PARK STAKES RACE:
Delaware Park’s Chief Operating Officer, Bill Fasy today announced that it has officially changed the name of the Leonard Richards Stakes to the Barbaro Stakes. Like the Leonard Richard Stakes, The Barbaro, will be a Grade III race for three olds and will be run July 15th during Delaware Park’s Delaware Handicap weekend, July 14 and 15. This renamed stakes race will continue to feature a guaranteed purse of $300,000.
“Our new Racing Secretary, Ismael “Izzy” Trejo, suggested the idea of The Barbaro Stakes, and we all agreed this was a terrific way to memorialize Barbaro’s legacy and to honor the Jackson family and Dr. Dean Richardson ,” said Bill Fasy. Added Trejo, “The deep admiration and love everyone felt for Barbaro was truly overwhelming. To be able to honor such a tenaciously spirited horse, whose remarkable career started here at Delaware Park in 2005, with its own Stakes race, makes the racing family here at Delaware Park extremely proud.”
Great news from Delaware Park. This will of course not have any effect on our planned April 29 visit to celebrate Barbaro.
Thanks for the update VB. It is very emotional to come to this thread now.
How is Man in Havana, Barbaro’s young half brother by Quiet American coming along? Poor baby has big steps to follow in.
He is in training at Palm Meadows.
His last posted workout was 2/22, four furlongs in 52:00

He is quite different than Barbaro - in just the way he is maturing. Lovely horse, but taking his time to blossom - the Jackson’s are in no hurry with him (which is good).

Amen…I still check in every single day. Thank you so very, very much.
Same here! Thank You for the continued updates on everyone that was involved with Bobby and the wonderful things that people are doing to keep his memory alive and to honor everyone involved with this amazing horse!
Does anyone remember the bracelets that everyone ordered…the ones with the Lael Farm colors on it… MY daughter has now decided she wants one…to hang on her Barbaro beenie baby as a necklace, anyone know where I can get one or two?
post #4511, on page 226 : ). sorry, i am not too good at computer navigation yet and haven’t mastered the “cut and paste” or “quote” procedures yet.
I have one…
But, and I mean no disrespect, you’d have to pry it from my cold, dead, hand.
I haven’t posted since we lost him, and I cannot possibly express the depth of my sadness at our loss, or my profound respect for VA for keeping us going, beforte, and, in the aftermath.
And if one more non-horseperson friend of mine says, “well, you know…” I will go ballistic, an become an interesting statistic. (which rhymes, however uintentionally).
I have fabulous horses here that I have bred, and own, and love beyond all measure, but I miss him…he was all that is good and brilliant and wonderful, and embodied the hopes of a nation, and of a community- ours.
I think of him every day…and I still BELIEVE…in the greatness of Barbaro
