If your Barbour is REALLY dirty and smelly, send it to the dry cleaners. The coat will come back with all the wax removed. Then, take a can of Barbour Wax Dressing, and treat the coat again. Rub the wax all over the coat. Then, heat the wax up with a blow dryer or heat gun. You now have a re-proofed coat for the cost of a dry cleaning and a $20 can of dressing.
