i am sort of anti-leather collars for dogs. My dogs swim in ponds, run on trails, roll in all KINDS of nastiness… So i prefer biothane. It is smooth like leather is, but water-impervious. Plus, it’s strong as heck! All i could find were simple buckle or even worse, cheap snap clips. And, unfortunatesy, i love a well made, interesting collar on my gorgeous dogs, so i resorted to making my own. Now, a few years later i have a wardrobe of collars/matching leashes for each one of my (sadly, now only 5 :() dogs. I’ve sold quite a few too. I’m biothane allllll the way for dogs.
These are not the fanciest but they’ve held up well for me and are certainly budget friendly. I have one leather and one nylon. The closure did not love the time it went in salt water/rolled in beach sand, but it recovered with nothing but a quick cleaning and doesn’t seem to mind fresh water at all. https://www.etsy.com/listing/782116075/leather-dog-collar-personalized-with?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_ts1-c-pet_supplies-pet_collars_and_leashes-pet_collars_and_jewelry&utm_custom1=k_EAIaIQobChMIqevXztHi7AIVA4bICh0T-wg3EAQYAyABEgLrL_D_BwE_k&utm_content=go_2063076662_76452852655_367965823644_pla-328317179678_m__782116075_169823152&utm_custom2=2063076662&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqevXztHi7AIVA4bICh0T-wg3EAQYAyABEgLrL_D_BwE
I have the rolled leather collar from Quillin. My girl has had it for…8ish years now? Still looks great.
