I have a three year old who has been really itchy just lately around his face, ears, chest, midline, sheath and tail; esp. face and tail. Classic areas for noseeum allergy. I thought it odd that he had been fine until approximately a month ago when his itchiness became really noticeable. Apparently Sweetitch, on average, develops in horses between ages 2 and 4. Anyway, I’ve ordered Neem Oil and Lemon Eucalyptus Oil to treat with. I’ve had good luck with Neem Oil in the past. I ordered both off of Amazon as I haven’t been able to find at our local TSC, Lowe’s, Home Depot or Walmart. Will also try a generic vapor rub but it’s still hot enough here in GA for that to mostly melt off.
I don’t think a fly sheet will work on this youngster as he would mostly like destroy it. Or his yearling pasture mate would. They have a run-in shed. I could leave a fan on but they are not in the shed that much during the day and I am gone, at work about 12 hours of the day and hate to leave a fan on when not around if it’s not absymally hot.
