Bay Area Trainer Suggestions

I am the trainer at Promenade Farm in portola valley. I have a small program with great horses, and amazing clients. You can look up www.promenadefarm.com for more info about me, the barn, program, and rates. We are located just behind the PVTC. I also have a wonderful horse coming available in 2 weeks for an in barn lease only. There is no lease fee, just would have to cover expenses. But he would be yours to ride/lesson on exclusively. He sounds like he would be a great fit for you. Has done a bit of everything. Currently leased out doing the equitation, but started life as a jumper, and dabbled in the hunters as well. A real gem of a horse! If you would like to speak further, I am available to answer any questions. Good luck!

I hope the OP doesn’t mind, but I’d like to piggy back onto her thread. I too just moved here (from NYC) and would like to start riding again so would love to get the lay of the land of riding on the west coast (the barns, costs, what it’s like to show, etc.)

I live in the Marina so I believe barns in the north would be best and/or feedback re: commuting down south re: a good time of day that would make it doable bc just running errands that way during the day has been crazy!..or maybe I’ve just hit a bad week!

In general, I’m used to up to an hour ride to the barn but don’t think I’d want to have one that is much more than that or it becomes untenable for me to do. Ideally, looking for a barn that has other adults from SF so there is the potential for the occasional ride share, etc and to keep each other company.

Not sure of goals yet, but am potentially open to lease/buying young and bringing along. Would want a strong technical trainer who can float btwn jumpers and/or hunters - a nice facility and above reproach barn management - and who probably has a pretty active sale component to their business would be great.

Since the OP is mostly interested in the south, if those of you with knowledge re: north want to PM me - it would be much appreciated!
