Ben's Cat streak ends . . .
Oh, yay, thanks Shammy! I just told the family we are going. Must go off to Costco to look for orange (Kirkland) polo/tee shirts to wear.
I can see you are looking for an excuse to shop and get attention on the rail. Enjoy yourself. Don’t embarrass the family by looking too loud.

And just to throw this out there, for the folks who think Ben’s Cat should be retired because he’s 10: http://www.horseracingnation.com/news/No_Brakes_not_Slowing_Down_at_Age_11_123#
No Brakes (also by Parker’s Storm Cat, but a year older than Ben) just came in second on 8/20 in a Starter Allowance at Laurel.
In 2009, Aussie sprinter, Takeover Target, won two G1s as a 10 year old, and shipped to England to race that year, which was the fourth time in his career that he had made the round the world trip from Aus to Eng to race.

Not bad for a horse that was bought as a 4yo for AUS$1250 (around US$850 at the time).

Actually, I’m completely not like that, Shammy, and rather frugal, just btw. The Cat surely will look better in his orange & black than we will, too.

No offense intended.

Oh, I didn’t take offense at all, promise!!

If I didn’t have a horse show tomorrow I would join you Beau. Let me know next time you go.

My stakes winning TB suffered a “catastrophic breakdown”… he shattered his knee…romping in his paddock during some R&R from the track. Be careful what you advocate for…but you certainly are entitled to your “educated” opinion.

Edit to add: Was responding to Gestalt post #11…don’t understand and annoyed why when one is “replying”, the reply is posted at the end and not immediately under the post one is replying to.

Hit reply with quote instead so people know what you are replying to. Sorry for your loss. Godspeed.

Hope you found some! I wouldn’t worry about what other people think of what you are wearing. It’s pretty narrow minded to judge people on what they are wearing. I love fans who wear the team colors - the crazier the better!

I am so very, very sorry, Sunlight.

“Let me know next time you go.”

Oh, fantastic, will do. Let me know when you go, also. Best of luck at the show, btw. A few weeks ago, when leaving the track, there were a bunch of deer in the field off to the right. This is certainly lots different than L.I., NY tracks.

I did go to COSTCO but didn’t find any orange shirts. I was considering making an orange & black Ben’s Cat poster/sign but just can’t bring myself to be that conspicuous, not even after a glass of beaujolais.

I’m not narrow minded. I am a wild and crazy kind of guy!

Ben’s Cat stalked, rallied, then faded to 5th. Still paying the bills, but probably needs a rest. It has been hot has hell on the East coast too.

Turf horses generally don’t get too much of a rest in September but I know they will do right by him whatever that may be.

It was hot, for sure, so much that we only went for the last few races. I guess Ben could use a bit of a break. I thought of you, Laurie, and was hoping you were getting by in that weather. Thank goodness today is much cooler.

Leatherbury says Ben will run in Maryland Millions Sprint.

Thanks Shammy. Perhaps he will like the cooler weather.

Say, Commonwealth Day had a good handle! Do they still have VA breeders awards? I couldn’t go that day but did go the next day as a friend had a filly in. She finished a very nice third, closed strongly.

VA does have breeders awards. Historically, it has not proved to be an incentive to improve our industry, what little remains of it now.

^^ I suppose it’s better than nothing, though, Shammy.
