Which is terrific- but, selfishly- I’d love it if he went to the KY Horse Park. BIG story to tell!
The jealous, I has it! LOL
Hope he enjoys his retirement and new job.
Oh that lucky rider! That sounds like a perfect retirement for him.
Palm Beach, you are trying to put a spin on my comment. The more a horse races, the greater the chance of injury. That is a given. Repetitive stress injuries don’t just happen to people.
He wouldn’t have a job if he went to the Kentucky Horse Park. He’d be standing around on parade in their barn. Not that this is a bad thing but perhaps Bens Cat likes to have a job. He will be located in Kentucky with his new rider so perhaps he will be in the show ring at the horse park in the future.
Social media is just not kind to racing–I didn’t get the feeling this is something Leatherbury wanted to do but an awful lot of people had opinions and keyboards to express them but no actual responsibility for the horse. It must be frustrating. The sport says that owner and trainers need to share access to their good horses to grow the sport but that subjects them to endless second guessing.
Hope Ben’s Cat has a good retirement!
This is a great article about Ben’s Cat in his new home.

Morrissey’s just posted a video of him leaving for Kentucky. You can tell his groom is really going to miss him.
There is a nice interview on YouTube with Avon Thorpe who cared for Ben. I can’t get the link to paste in properly – if you look on YouTube, it is “Avon Thorpe on Ben’s Cat.”
I think maybe he wanted to, but might have done it differently if not for the attention. Not that I know the man, or anything…
I will say some of the commentary on news stories and FB made me want to bang my head against the wall. LOL
Ben’s Cat is recovering from colic surgery. Maybe he needs retired from retirement?
At least he’s at a top horsepital for surgery and aftercare…
Poor Ben
This particular type of colic is worrisome. Prognosis is not great in any event and impacted by the amount of small intestine resected. Sending jingles to him and hoping for a positive outcome. Wish we could get another update…
Godspeed to Ben’s Cat with his final run and may he rest in peace upon arrival.
Euthanized today - July 18th - due to complications that arose during his recovery from colic surgery
Godspeed Ben, your job here was well done.
RIP, Ben. I am so sad for all his connections.
Noooooo, . . .
This is how I will remember him, I was standing right at the wire.

This makes me so sad.
Godspeed Ben’s Cat.
