OK. So, I gave it a whirl on the Toby-trashed post xc tack. Here are my thoughts. I’m going to compare it a lot to Tatersall, which has been my favorite cleaner (til now???), and has a similar-ish history.
It does smell nice, but it is subtle. One thing I notice NOW (that I’m done), my hands don’t stink and aren’t sticky-gross like after using Tatersall.
It is MUCH lighter that Tatersall, but cleans easily. Even with the salty, grimy grossness of Toby’s tack. I started out using a barely damp sponge, like I do with Tatersall and wasn’t loving it. It DOES need to be truly damp. But no foam (I HATE foamy saddle soap!). And I liked it way better.
I did exactly as Bensmom says in “the Story of the Soap” and wiped it on and off. Normally, I run a damp rag over my tack, THEN soap. Didn’t need to. It loosened and removed the gross grimies without extra help…even the nastiness that were my reins.
Tack is now soft and shiny but not sticky. Pretty impressive considering how gross it was and that I basically just gave it a gentle scrub with a sponge (after xc a week ago, I hosed all his tack off before I cleaned it).
I’m impressed. I took pictures that I uploaded to FB, but they aren’t showing up. Go figure.[/QUOTE]
I’m going to try some once I wade through this thread and find out where to purchase it. I’m a Tattersall loyalist, too, so yellowbritches’s feedback on the first page is enough to tempt me!
