Huh. I can honestly say I’ve never seen such an arrangement, and I’ve been in many, many, barns over the years.

These first appeared in the Southwest, not the Northeast! The first one I saw was in Casey Hinton’s barn (QH, Reining) about 15 years ago. I do think they save steps for trainers helpers saddling and unsaddling multiple horses, and in that use, make sense. But, the floor then needs to be completely clear, and when is the last time you saw that in a tack room?

That, plus I would think a lot more dust and dirt would end up inside the tack room, unless there’s some sort of vacuum seal around the edges of the revolving panel.

I will say it might make more sense with Western saddles. Those things are heavy!

Melly & his daughter Kathy ran Mar-Bel Stable in Montvale, NJ for over 20 years,
They never owned that property. After Melly passed away, about 15 years ago, Kathy moved the barn to Allendale, NJ (where the train tracks were), that peoperty is now 60 townhouses. She moved to Suffern, NY (Danny Bull’s old barn), but that too is now houses. She currently runs the barn you mentioned on Pascack Rd in Nanuet, NY. Just like her dad, her barn is a place with lots of kids & great schoolies.[/QUOTE]

Blast from the past! I used to show at MarBel when Melly was there in the 70s. My first show was there! Always had fun there. We shipped in from Rockland. Also used to show at SpookRock , Over Peck, Sussex . Definitely GOOD TIMES!

You realize this thread is several years old right?

It’s been open for quite a while now. http://www.bergenequestrian.com/home.html

There is a public lesson program, a few h/j/e trainers, and a dressage trainer.

^ Thanks!

Yep, I just happened to come across it

Just came across this thread, too. So, $96.19 for an GROUP LESSON? I can take an hour-long PRIVATE in Westchester County for less than that!
