Bernie Traurig Clinics

I’m glad you had such a positive experience OP, I am a big fan of Bernie too.

I think you and your horse made tremendous progress over the weekend. He looked much softer and more responsive to your half halts by the end of the clinic. Good job!

I would love to go to one. How much do his clinics usually run? (You can PM if you prefer!). Thanks.

They vary in price. If you go to his site, they will tell you the farms and locations and you can google search. Ours was this past weekend was 350, but PA one is drastically more at 500.

Thank you!!

Generally around $600. Depends on who is hosting the clinic

Wow…quiet a difference in range, from 350 to 600.

Again, the difference in price depends on who is putting on the clinic. Bernie has flat fees, plus expenses. The unknown number is the cost of renting the facility

Gotcha. Thanks.

Thank you ElementFarm!!! He’s a smart boy. The only thing I wish, though I totally know why we never got a chance, was to be able to jump 3’6. He’s always been a harder ride on the low stuff, but once you hit 3’3 and up hes 10 times easier and more adjustable. But I totally get that we need to execute the lower stuff better which will only make our higher stuff better.

We’ve spent everyday last week working on it and actually did some 3’ fences in a simple rollerbit (in search of the slow twist bit he had us use) and he was so great! Still got work to do but he’s picking up on what we worked on. I cant wait to perfect it all and see Bernie again and show him how much we improved!!!

It depends on the rest of the class. If you are all top notch, then you might get your height, otherwise a hole or two below the class height. Practice, practice, practice. He gives you the tools and now its up to you to practice them. Yes, come back and show him the difference. He would like that

My class was def 3’6 worthy but my horse for what he wanted to work on with us was not. I’ve shown successfully at the 3’6 heights but Bernie had us working on transitions and halts in lines to get him to slow down and listen to the bit. He gets very excited to the jump (loves his job) and while its not an issue at the bigger fences I know he wouldn’t let us go higher since it was an issue at the basic 2’6 height. But he’s progressing well and we were able to do a couple jumps at 3’ yesterday. One point he was so soft I was waiting for his “big move” and it never came! That will take the longest to adjust to. He’s a tough horse, prob always will be, but we were working on creating a more ridable tough horse  So totally understood why I couldn’t jump the height, but was still bummed! But there is next time!!!

His clinics are only amazing if he is in a good mood. As he is getting older, he is getting moody…some days are good, others are a waste of time and money. We have had both, but are no longer going to waste our time. It’s sad because he could still be amazing, but doesn’t have good self control anymore. If you are lucky to get a good day, that is great!
