Best drawing agent for abscess that can be bought at Walmart

All of the above plus lanolin. That can be found in the baby section. Pure lanolin is great for wounds. I wouldn’t pack the abscess hole but just putting some on the area will help.

I also like using diaper rash cream too. It helps put a moisture barrier on the wound area.

Yes zinc oxide is super useful for all kinds of things.

I can’t find any abscess hole anywhere. I scrubbed the foot down yesterday, actually both feet. I don’t see any more signs of icky stuff or any type of opening. He does have an abundance of leg hair and we had a storm starting to blow in so I couldn’t see that well plus he wasn’t cooperating very well. I put him in his clean dry stall and put an epsom salt/ iodine pack where I thought I had seen pus the day before. And wrapped in vet wrap. There was nothing on the wound pad except epsom salt and iodine this AM. I did look at his feet in the pasture when I turned him out and couldn’t see anything. He was cooperating better today. Maybe if I cut some hair off his legs I will see something. There was no pain response when I pressed on his coronet band and his heel. So who knows where that nasty stuff came from. I will keep looking and will clean his feet good at night to recheck. We had several inches of rain last night but their little pasture only has mud in one small area so it should stay clean that high on his foot.

So it’s all good abscess resolved and the track closed up. You don’t need to treat unless it returns

I want to live in this world where people only encounter one or two abscesses in their entire lives.

No joke, right?? Granted I live in an arid environment, and have had substantially fewer abscesses since switching to higher quality hay (alfalfa) and added copper and zinc to their diet. But it still happens. Heavy rains followed by rapid drying back to our standard drought conditions seem to bring them on.

Lol don’t worry, we pay for it in other emotional torture and vet bills
