Best gooseneck hitch for a Ford Ranger?

A Ranger might pull a gooseneck trailer, but it sure is going to have a hard time stopping one.

Earlier today I expressed my undying hatred for April Fool’s Day. However, tangledweb, you are making me reconsider.

In addition to the bungee cords and duct tape suggested by Frostbitten, I suggest you toss a roll of baling twine and a bottle of Gorilla glue behind the seat for emergencies.

If you add living quarters to the set up I suggest Flintstone type holes in the floor so you can use your feet to help with stopping. No need for a brake controller - that would just be overkill (so to speak).

My dad used to haul a steel horse trailer with a 1988 toyota pickup truck  for reals hahahaha

Thanks for the advice everybody. Just got back from the shop.

It seems to be working well. Now need to go trailer shopping, and maybe get a break controller installed. I can feel it pushing on the truck a bit.

With the break controller comment, now I KNOW you’re trolling us… Well played.

Photo shopped in the red truck. Evidence by the fact the back end isn’t pushed down at all when in reality the wheel well would be sitting in the tire

Okay, I don’t know what is funnier, the people playing along, or the people who thought you were serious!! Thanks for the laughs!!!

Could you just use the same set up as this video? Then you wouldn’t even need the GN hitch

You laugh but I had a friend wanting to pull their horse trailer (loaded with horses!) behind their Airstream pulled by their pick up. That’s what they did with their 4-wheeler.
I told them they were insane!!

THIS! Lol There’s no shortage of dangerous crap going down the road - you never, never know!

This was a good one.

What you really want to do is mount the ball on the tail gate.

airhorse - you have clearly overlooked the “custom wood block support” and the “extra super heavy duty” chains they’ve added to the tailgate

Best part is you can keep your slide in camper too.

I suppose there is a chance that that hitch is attached to the frame through the top but somehow I doubt it LOL

Unfortunately on one of those stupid facebook groups full of idiots that I cannot seem to “unfollow”…this was a real question the other day.

It was NOT april 1st. It was NOT a joke.

And they wanted to know what type of horse trailer they could safely tow with a Ford Ranger.

Um, a Barbie trailer?

OK, I just wasted about 30 minutes perusing some fine mechanical improvements to common items…

I see some pure genius in some of those. I really loved the giant tarp slip’n’slide down the river bank.

But then, I’m a bit of a redneck myself.

Creative attempts to win the Darwin award…

Maybe the OP should get this trailer instead.

I think using the flatbed as a deck is genius!
