In my opinion, make a list of all of the brands you want to consider and then look at the size charts and compare to your custom measurements to narrow down your choices. However, for me ariats tend to last the longest and the italian brands look the best!
My very inexpensive Dublin Aristocrats have served me well. They fit me like they’re custom. They clean up to look brand new when I bother to do it. I foxhunt in them. I drive in them. I wear them to clean stalls. I trail ride in them. I do endurance rides in them. I give baths in them. I show in them. I am not nice to them at all. My original pair is still perfectly usable even for formal days hunting, though I do have a second pair I keep in better condition.
