Best really, really warm gloves or mittens for barn work?

Those little nitrile gloves KILL my hands, they make them colder than they would be without gloves! I’ve had several outside work jobs and while I love those gloves when it’s warm and wear them constantly, I can not wear them when it’s cold outside for even a minute.

So far this year liners and neoprene palmed gloves are “ok” but I never have found a pair of gloves that actually keep my hands warm.

I really like my SSG Ten Below gloves. They are very warm. I like to buy them a size or two larger than I normally wear. For some reason, it’s easier to work in then with a little room. They’re a bit bulky, but the best I’ve tried for warmth and “waterproofness.” I can ride in them, but I can’t tack up in them. For barn chores, they’re great.
I would give these a try. I have several pairs of their riding gloves and love them. Great fit and last reasonably long considering the amount of use I give them but I only use them when riding. Even with winter temps in the 20’s they are pretty warm for being so thin.

Get yourself a pair of silk or tech fabric glove liners.
Layer under waterproof gloves - maybe neoprene?
Yes, it means wearing 2 pairs, but the liners really work to keep hands warm.
In less than arctic cold I’ve discovered wearing 2 pair of those cheapo Magic Gloves works & they tend to stay together when removed.

No Reynaud’s, but my “touch of arthritis” hands are useless claws if chilled.

And no, you’re not crazy.
I’ve seen the bunny-lined gloves, but usually as fine leather unsuited for riding or barn chores
Outstanding advice. Silk glove liners from Cabelas are the same ones you buy at ski shops but cost a lot less. They’ve also go silk sock liners that work very well, also.

Wear a hat, too. That will dramatically reduce heat loss.

I have a pair of terramar merino wool liners that I wear inside of gloves in the winter, and they make even dress gloves pretty warm - I’d imagine inside a proper glove they’d be quite toasty. I think they were $6 at sierra trading post.

When I was regularly doing barn work, I got a pair of nice skiing gloves. They were so waterproof that I could reach into the water trough and pull chunks of ice out.

I wore these all winter in New england last year, a brutally cold winter.
