Selling foals is tricky because many buyers board and/or don’t have a setup to keep a foal until it’s 3 or so, in appropriate fencing and foal company, and with experienced handling. If it were me, I’d market a package of foal board and options for halter breaking and so on to the prospective buyer to prevent that stopping a sale. With requirement for insurance of course, and a tight contract.
Are you a member of the US Sport Horse Breeders Association ? They offer members a free online breeders directory, and affordable co-op advertising in national magazines. It’s a great way to target prospective buyers around the country who are looking for quality young horses. Plus you have the added advantage of your ad being seen as part of an established national organization (rather than Facebook or horse-sales website).
No I am not a member, but will look into it!
I keep getting emails from Sporthorse Auctions, anyone have any experience offering horses through an online auction? I have no idea how any of that works…
Will be cleaning them up tomorrow for a new video, finally. Pesky work keeps getting in the way of life
