Sorry guys, I didn’t realize this thread was still running without me :lol:
I’ll ask my dentist in the spring what he thinks about bit seats, he’s a well regarded specialist vet that travels all over the east coast so he will know!! But this horse has not had a bit seat done with me before. I do know his left top molar slightly overshoots the bottom…but that may or may not contribute to any issues (no difference in bit wear side to side). This fall he had no points (just slightly rough) and he will be done again in the spring.
I ran into my vet and asked him about bit setting. He said he does round off the edges, but does not do a major ‘bit set’ as he has seen too many that were done too radically. Anyway - it is enough to protect my soft rubber and Nathe bits, so perhaps it is the terminology.
The Bomber bits look interesting. Does anyone know if only the loose ring is legal?
I like the look of the happy tongue dee on their page.
I also have a horse that prefers a mullen, it seems. Would like to try the vulcanized rubber but they all appear to be so thick! Wish there were thinner options.

There actually are a couple. Happy Mouth makes some plastic Mullen mouths that are thinner, but last I checked, they weren’t very rubbery/flexible, which I didn’t care for.

I have this bit for my daughter’s POA who needed a bit with less movement, and we both like it. It’s a copy of the Korsteel flexiflavored Mullen mouth which has been discontinued and which I really liked.
