Bit recommendations for a hot horse!

I agree that a hackabit is not ideal from a refinement standpoint. So why don’t you try a snaffle with hackamore combination? That seems like the simplest thing to do. This one you can use in combination with a snaffle due to the shape of the shanks: https://hermsprengerusa.com/products/kombi-style-hackamore?srsltid=AfmBOoqO_c04CxKkKDPbD6jZN9VWjwo2Slcce9EtCTG5ewT5kDRgxmr9

Second suggestion would be a polo gag on two reins, but it’s a very different action. If she responds well to nose pressure why not just keep it that way?

Try a set up similar to what United Touch S is going in, the JumpIn hackamore with a rigid noseband is key. I pad the rigid noseband with an equifit crown pad, it still works as well but way more comfortable.

I have a hot, but extremely broke GP horse who goes wonderfully in just the hackamore alone, but I have added a loose ring here and there to it for the show rings I know he gets particularly amped up in.

Also depending on how strong/how she carries herself, a double noseband made a huge difference for my horse when he went in a bit. He is quite soft in the mouth, and gets very offended if the bit is too strong so he went in a. flexible white Mullen mouth with a custom long length shank Pelham for a long time. The double noseband really helped with control in a nice way.

I would try the United Touch set up first!
