I’m looking at this one with the padded noseband, very nice.

Of course, I have to try one out first.

I don’t do anything to the Little S nosebands- I don’t hang on their face so it doesn’t chew them up.
The little S IS a mechanical hack, it’s just a gentle one.
I don’t hang on his face either…Just was advised by a barn buddy that since it was new and incredibly stiff the fleece noseband or vet-wrap would be a good idea at the time. I could probably take it off now as it is well formed.

Yeah, finding one to try is always the hard part!
These I can get to match his beta bridle set!

Very interesting bit, BHLH. I might consider that one further…
There really needs to be a bit rental program or something! LOL
I know, right? I only found out about this bit because a friend happened to be a dealer for them and let me borrow her demo version. I probably wouldn’t have bought it otherwise without being able to try it first. Maybe the manufacturer can tell you if there’s a dealer in your area?
I love the colors!!
Yeah Htwo, I would get burgundy on black for my new boy, he is very dark bay and I have burgundy snugpax to go with his black Freeform and black Zilco breastplate. It seems odd to have all this burgundy when his name is Blue, however.
Those are my colors too decorum!
Except for my guy is a sorrel & white paint! We have a little red thrown in for items that I can’t buy in burgundy, but I love the colors on him.
My favorite color is blue, but it just didn’t look right on my guy:no:
I would agree with you EXCEPT that it is not only me to have these issues with him, but also the much more experienced trainers who ‘know’ their hands better. I do not think of myself as an exceptionally advanced rider, but I am not a beginner either.
oh no, I’m not saying YOU are the problem; I’m saying the HORSE has the problems because he’s confused and half-trained; from what you say, he doesn’t understand how to give to bit, and so you end up having face-tugging matches with him. Changing bits won’t affect that. I’d either put him a french-link snaffle and take some dressage lessons, or put him in a bosal and re-start him western style, teaching him to neck-rein and whoa off the lightest touch of the rein.
I have both, and love both. I prefer the leather in Bitless, for conditioning it makes it more and more supple.
I might use the S Hack for a little more persuasion the beginning of the year, but it is still too soon to tell.
I have had to hang on the S Hack a little durance a distance ride, with no ill effects to the bridge of his nose.
I would get head evasion (throwing his head up) with a soft bit, and it seems the nose pressure keeps that under control a little better, and, I will admit, I ride with softer hands when I use the Bitless. Just a mind game for myself, which is fine with me!

Sorry I misundertsood! That is so easy to do with out intonation in text isn’t it?
I’m just worried about how many times he’s been “Restarted” at this point! Raises the question of ‘am I choosing the wrong/right trainer?’
It’s just that you read about horses trained in 30-60days (albiet, younger) that just need to adjust to your style when bought per say…and here I am with a horse that been through probably 3x that since I’ve owned him and he still doesn’t get it.
(to clarify I have never switched trainers because of how they trian, it has only been because of a move out of state)
The weather was close enough to not raining to ride today (meaning it did rain on us) and I tried out my mom’s Little S and it was good! I am going to get one. Unfortunately, hers is an Arab size and was a tad tight on my TB. I removed the fleece on the nose to make it roomier but it was still quite tight and he ended up with faint bumps on his nose from that awful plastic like noseband. I am getting one of the flat nosebands.
But, it worked great! I barely touched it the whole 2 hours and had great control. I’m happy.
if the noseband is so offensive, why aren’t you guys just buying the fleece lined leather noseband?
I’ve ridden countless miles in these on tons of horses, I just don’t understand the desire to buy something that you want to modify, when there are 8000000 hacks to choose from?
Carry on, peace out…
Um, didn’t I say I was buying one with a different noseband? The one I borrowed had the harsh noseband but the one I am getting is different. I had to take the fleece off the one I used because it was an Arab size headstall and everything was a bit too tight and high.
