No doubt! The potential for problems vs being the concerned lady carrying around a ziplock bag full of dead beetles asking for confirmation ….I’ll be that person all day long. Thanks again for all your sage advice.
There are several types of blister beetles and yours didn’t look like any of the ones around here anyways. I think it was a great idea to have them checked out. Where were the bales stored? I wonder if it was in a place where the beetles could have gotten into the bales after bailing?
Or were they crushed during the cutting ?
I always worried when we grew alfalfa mix here in MO but all the years we did we never had any. The only plus about being in MN and having alfalfa is there aren’t any.
Thanks @candyappy. Stored inside my feed room. Definitely crushed during cutting/baling. Besides the dozen plus I found whole when I tore the bale apart there were lots of legs and wings and bits in the alfalfa shake.
glad everything turned out okay!
Lol. You haven’t lived until you have meticulously pulled apart a suspect bale and fist bumped your SO after each beetle you find to take in for investigation. The things we do for horses ….
