From what I watched initially with interviews Nolen wasn’t willing to suggest he did anything wrong whatsoever. That changed more so when he saw the replay and the focus was on what was he thinking.

“I probably underestimated the testing track of Ascot,” he said. “It is quite unfortunate because it is going to over-shadow what was a good win. I under estimated the straight six here. It was pilot error but I got away with it.”

Black Caviar’s connections now contemplating another campaign this fall, which is spring on Southern Hemisphere time.
Nuclear scans performed on Black Caviar following her narrow victory Saturday revealed muscular injuries in a few locations, but the most serious was a tear to her quadriceps.
Black Caviar, a huge muscle-bound mare, has suffered muscle injuries in the past. The most prominent such incident occurred in September 2009, when she tore muscles breaking awkwardly from the starting gate in the Rory’s Jester Stakes. Until Saturday, the three-quarter-length victory Black Caviar had recorded in the Royal Jester had been the smallest margin of victory in her career.
While Black Caviar’s reputation took a hit in some quarters because of her performance Saturday, there is little doubt she ran far below her best form. Greg Carpenter, the official handicapper for Racing Victoria in Australia and a member of the World Thoroughbred Rankings panel, estimated Black Caviar ran 15 points below her rating of 130 in the Diamond Jubilee.
Moody seemed pleased to get a specific diagnosis of Black Caviar’s injury and suggested there should be little problem getting her back into racing condition after a period of rest. Moody mentioned the Patinack Farm Classic in November, a race Black Caviar has won the last two seasons, as a possible goal. A December trip to the prestigious Hong Kong International Sprint also is being contemplated.

Up next? Still to be determined for Nelly although Peter Moody tweeted 7/30/12 that she won’t be at the Melbourne spring carnival.
Black Caviar has won the same three races at the carnival for the past two years - the Schillaci Stakes (Caulfield), the Schweppes Stakes (Moonee Valley) and the Patinack Farm Classic (Flemington) - but Moody said she requires an extended break to fully recover from a busy year on the track.
Speaking to the Herald Sun, Moody added: "She’s just needed time to get over her trip to England. She’s had a really busy time in the past year or so and just needs a break to get over it.
“She’s fine in herself and she’s recovered from her injuries, but it would be asking a lot of her to have only a couple of weeks off and then be ready for the spring.”
Black Caviar will also miss the Hong Kong International Sprint in December when she would have been chasing a $1 million bonus in the Global Sprint Challenge.

Moody, speaking to the Herald Sun, said: “It’s a $50 million question on whether she’ll even race again, and without telling a lie, I’ve got absolutely no idea.”
"My dream is to have a grand final tour of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
"I would love something like that. If I can see it in her we’ll do it. If she’s not right, she has run her last race, as is the way I’ve approached her last five or six runs.
"Right now my recommendation will be she won’t go to stud this year and we’ll put it off until next year.
"I’ll give her a preparation until around Christmas and if I think she’s going well enough we’ll see her at the races about February.
“If she’s not she’ll sit in the paddock until the 2013 breeding season.”

Racing Victoria Sep 27, 2012: “Black Caviar set to race again”
Black Caviar will be given the chance to add to her unprecedented race record in 2013.
The champion mare’s trainer Peter Moody this afternoon confirmed that, in consultation with the owners, a decision had been made to embark on another racing preparation with the six-year-old daughter of Bel Esprit.
“We’re going to give her a spell now and she will be geared towards and autumn preparation,” Moody said.
“That’s the extent of it at this stage, no races have even been thought of or discussed as potential targets.”
Black Caviar has spent this week at Moody’s Caulfield stable after undertaking three weeks of pre-training.
She has not raced since stretching her unbeaten record to 22 with an unforgettable win in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in the UK, when she scored a narrow win despite suffering multiple muscle strains in the run.

Also just saw that there is a book coming out about her. Haven’t had a chance to order it yet. I do have the stamps, pics of her at the finish line in the first 20 wins.

BLACK CAVIAR’S younger half-brother All Too Hard gained a first Group 1 win in Australia on Saturday, with a surprise defeat of hot favourite Pierro in the Caulfield Guineas.
Last year’s A$1,025,000 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale topper, who is from the first crop of Casino Prince, won two Group 2 races at two: the Sires’ Produce Stakes and the Pago Pago Stakes.
Not the same crew as Black Caviar, ATH is a Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained colt

She’s resurfaced and nearing her debut for 2013: Racing Post JAN 22 “Black Caviar makes surprise appearance”
The unbeaten mare contested a jump-out, her first piece of serious racetrack competition since her famous Royal Ascot victory in June.
Sitting deep from the start of the 800m contest, Black Caviar domimated the jump-out from the home turn as she put a space between herself and her rivals.
“It was just a soft half-mile jump-out and I’m very happy with her,” trainer Peter Moody told AAP.
“It was a great opportunity to have a little trip away on a great surface.”
The Sandown excursion confirmed Black Caviar is making excellent progress as she prepares for an exhibition gallop between races on her home track at Caulfield on February 2.
Black Caviar is scheduled to make her racing return in the $500,000 Group 1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington on February 16.
“That’s the race we’ve always suggested will be the race she kicks off in,” Moody said.
A farewell campaign for the $6.8 million earner is expected to take in races in Sydney and Brisbane.
Black Caviar will face a field of seven in her 2013 debut - two of which are from her own yard. She’s is aiming for her third successive Lightning Stakes win, and her 13th at Group 1 level, when she attempts to extend her unbeaten record against seven rivals on Saturday.
By the way this is one of those unique races as it was renamed in her honor by the Victoria Racing Club

Next week, she is expected to be announced as an inductee to the Australian racing Hall of Fame, the first active racehorse to be so honored since Sunline in 2002.
Tuesday, Black Caviar had her final workout, going about a half-mile, or 800 meters, in 50.80 seconds at Caulfield Racecourse. She was timed in 36.65 for the final 600 meters, or about three furlongs. She has been in serious training for the last six weeks.
“I can’t find a chink in her armor,” Moody told the Australian press earlier this week. “She is back, relaxed, and scorching the turf, which is the whole reason she is running again. I’m really pleased with her.”
Post time in the United States, for her 23rd start is 12:30 a.m. Eastern Saturday morning.
