Black Walnut Trees & Chestnut Trees

I’d leave them if you can-- what’s been said about black walnut is pretty accurate. Chestnuts-- my horses have never bothered my chestnut tree, nor have the cattle next door who have several in their field (and the walnut orchard up the road has had cattle grazing under them for the last 75 years…though I don’t think they are black walnuts). You might want to thin out a few of the chestnuts for more pasture space, but that’s just me! Your county extension office can tell you if they are buckeyes or horse chestnuts which are definitely toxic if consumed in enough quantity.
