Blanket fitting woes

Schneider’s adjustafit blankets. Amazing.

I’m also going to chime in about Premier Equine as I just bought my first blanket from them - The Lucanta Stratus 100g turnout. It has padding at the withers, sits a little higher than his regular rambo 100g, and really fits my built up hill guy well. The price was good too, as I got it 20% off. They rotate their 20% off sales…daily I think, so keep an eye out!

Another vote for Premier. I just purchased a medium and heavy for my 16.2 and growing 4yo and am very happy with the quality.

I am sorry to say from experience that the Bucas is NOT waterproof. Maybe I got a dud, but my brand new blanket soaked through during the first snow of the season. Very unimpressed.

My Paint gelding is built like his heavily TB ancestors and is narrow in front. Years ago I got him some blankets that were a perfect fit but went out of production. Nothing worked: Weatherbeeta, Pessoa, Smartpak among others. They are cut too large at the neck and shoulders so he would get really wet. I emailed the shop I had ordered from and she recommended the Horze Avalanche which she was using on her own horses. Great choice. They are a high neck but there is a triangular gusset sewn in which keeps it off the withers. The front has a lot of adjustability. The tail flap is humongous. The quality is excellent. He has a complete wardrobe: raincoat, medium jacket for regular rotten weather, heavy parka when temps linger around 0 during the day, and a medium hooded expedition overcoat for blizzard conditions.
