I may be moving to the Palm Desert area. Can anyone tell me what I should expect in terms of monthly costs for boarding?
I am not from the area, but this may help:

Cost in terms of money: for full-care board, maybe $800 and up, and $1000 is more like a decent starting budget if you want facilities to speak of. There are lots of backyard setups, and way more in the way of costs broken out than I’m used to from the east coast, so don’t get too excited by a web page that says board is $400 because you haven’t gotten to the part where each flake fed daily is another $20, etc. It’s kind of annoying, but if you actually want just the basics you can get the price down a lot.
Somewhat dated information on big places: Tahquitz in Indio was well-regarded and seems to still be there. Michael Cintas/ECI is love-em-or-hate-em; a search here will probably find plenty of both.
Digression: I say “cost in terms of money” because it’s the non-monetary costs I couldn’t hack. I don’t like heat much, and this time of year it’ll be into three digits by midmorning. Every. Day. (I had family in the desert south of there for many years, though.) It cools off a lot closer to the coast, but the prices go up, too.
I’m sure you could find boarding for much much less than $800.
Thank you to all of you so far who have provided feedback.
I don’t see it.
