I think if it’s a rider fall - you can show jump or substitute can SJ, but if it’s a horse fall you can’t but I’m not sure if then the reserve comes in - and then it’s 200 point penalty + penalties for a sub rider. I’m not sure why or what’s the point of this new format, why not just keep it at dropping the lowest score - which is what many team sports do. Crazy. Who thinks of this stuff
As best I can tell, the new format will likely ensure that all countries that send a team to the Olympics will have a full complement of riders in stadium jumping on the last day such that more teams finish on a number rather than a letter. It’s a very, um, cosmetic change in my opinion.
