I’m so thrilled for James Alliston! I was a working student for him years ago; so great to see him doing so well. He is such a kind and effective rider.
Another really strong showing for the U.S. team and I’m glad to see that we’re settling into a real strategy around how we leverage Boekelo. It’s such a useful place for developing talent and I love that we sent three young horses with more established riders + one young rider. I do think we had to dig a little deeper in the well this time with some of the most logical picks for Boekelo tied up with other commitments. Caroline Pamukcu/Martin & Liz Halliday probably could have each fielded their own competitive teams of 8-10 year olds if they weren’t busy with the Pan Am’s.
James is such a natural, feel-based rider- it’s really fun to watch. He may not be the most stylish guy in the world to watch but he is NEVER in the horse’s way and he’s always balanced and forward. Karma looks like she has all the ingredients to turn into a really proper 5* horse. Pretty incredible performance from a 9 year-old who’d never set foot outside of the U.S. until this weekend.
I’ve been super impressed watching Cassie Sanger this fall. She is so technically correct in her position and every single time I watch her ride I think, “wow, that could win the Maclay final.” She also appears to be very effective and forward thinking on top of having an impeccable position, which is very exciting to see in a rider who’s just 19 years old.
Bad luck for Jennie, but she’ll be back and Phillip did a super job (as expected) setting up a very talented 8 year-old for what looks like a big future.
I apologize. I’m sure this has already been answered. Who is the commentator? She’s super.
The angle of entry was very important here. Controled entry was key.
Nicole Brown. She’s fantastic!
Thanks!
