Well that was cool.
Woo hoo!! DH got the tri!!
MMM by a nostril damn good stretch run.
Agree about the lousy call.
They did, hope Glimmer followed my suggestion of putting a seperate bet on that Lucas horse (or the European) just in case the exactas were a bust. As they were.
I had a bad start watching this today but a very satisfying ending. Night y’all.
Gary Stevens should win Sexiest Man in the World this year What a story for all of MMM’s connections!
I was disgusted with Declaration of War’s jockey, O’Brien, he really went to town slamming that horse with his stick.
Great race and super duper psyched for Gary!
Think that Wise Dan clinched HOY, grass horse and older horse for the second year in a row.
I expect the strong finish in the Classic will give Will Take Charge the edge in a non-competitive three year old championships where there are no stand outs.
Royal Delta will get older female again.
I think Beholder will edge Princess for three year old filly, but that will be another photo finish.
Gary’s gonna have to do a second edition of his book with a Part II!
So happy for Gary and Kathy! Gary stopped drinking and made weight the right way this time with a nutritionist and a personal trainer. Imagine if he had done that his whole career.

I was watching MMM too closely - will have to go back and watch the replay. Joseph’s days as a jockey are coming to a close anyway. He’s really already way too tall and hasn’t stopped growing.

That was officially the worst call of any race I have ever heard. I could not understand/hear a single word the announcer said down the stretch. Oh well, girl power![/QUOTE]
I think it was the audio mix. They had the crowd noise up way too loud. The caller was calling the right horses and was understandable, but was being drowned out.
Still looking for the photo. LOL But very happy MMM won, but I was all over Will Take Charge. Saw him win The Travers and have been impressed since.
Had 3/4 of the superfecta - missed by using Game On Dude instead of Ft Larned. TG I put WTC 2nd in a couple of exacta combos, which at least made me break even for the day.
Love Dan, and MMM, and WTC. Happy for Kathy Ritvo, Gary Stevens, Mike Smith. Hope JR recovers quickly.
Just realised, but the winners of the Prix de l’Arc and BC Classic this year were both trained by women!
Now if Gai Waterhouse can train the winner of the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday (she trains the favorite, and a second runner), this will be a watershed year for women trainers!!
Wow, for a casual race fan with only basic cable this was the pits!
They had an hour and they filled it with silly puff pieces. They could have shown at least several of the earlier races and still had plenty of time to “educate” the viewers about the horses in the Classic. And after all that, you couldn’t hear which horses were fighting it out down the stretch!
Just found the photo, Laurie, before coming here. And the link to all of them…
http://www.santaanita.com/photo-finish. So close…
And by the way, those are 2 tall horses.

He’s tall all right. I was on the paddock rail on the saddling barn side and a few jockeys walked by and then, there’s Joseph. He was taller than some of the people he was with.

He’s close to 6ft and still rising. He can’t ride below 126lbs, which is why he wasn’t on any of the other Ballydoyle horses like Magician, the BC Turf winner, who as a 3yo was only carrying 122lbs.
It’s hard to see him being able to stay a flat jockey, expect maybe in the 130-140lb range, for much longer.
Richard Hughes, who rode the winner of the BC Juvy fillies Turf, is pretty tall too, about 5’10 or 5’11, though he stopped growing a long time ago.
Declaration of war never switched lead si don’t think
