Breeding show etiguette.

Okay, I stand corrected. [/QUOTE]

I am not trying to be a pain. I just wanted to clarify for accuracy that TT trucks drive in all the time, on the grounds, and sometimes into that side schooling area. And also to stick up for the poster who said she saw one there, because I am sure she did and you were telling her she was mistaken because you were pretty sure one didn’t pull in.

Right or wrong, I have seen it personally, most times before dawn- before schooling is commencing in good shape. There is a lot going on during Devon and stuff happens. It’s a wonderful horse show and because so much is going on (which is what makes Devon great) you roll with the punches and punt when the play doesn’t go to plan.

867 I’m not disputing that at all. Certainly ON the GROUNDS. But it is unsual (and not allowed) for there to be one driving IN THE SCHOOLING AREA while horses are there so that’s what I didn’t think had happened. But clearly, it did this year because, apparently, the driver disregarded directions. I had just walked back there earlier that day and it was all quiet and normal and certainly there was no plan for a tractor trailer to drive into the schooling area and park in the middle. So I thought it didn’t happen. I am wrong and happy to admit it. What it wasn’t, however, was something planned ahead of time or anything that had to do with moving the days.

The picture says it ALL!!! Really funny if it wasn’t so scary!!!

At St. Christophers he got 3rd place ribbons. Regardless of his ill mannered behavior, both the judges at Blue Rock made him Res BYH. Made me think of DSHB where judges seem to think “hot” behavior is preferred.

He also held up two shows because he doesn’t load easily either.

I would never breed to a horse who acted like this. Why would anyone show an intact animal who acts like this? He is flashy and pretty but not what I would breed to.

So sad that a great horseman nearly got badly hurt by this ill mannered animal.

He can be extremely ill mannered. He is a lovely looking colt (soon to be gelding) that was not handled by his owners for the winter, literally pulled out of the field and sent for show prep too late in the show season. I’m not sure if your "why anyone would chose to show is directed at the owner or handler. The colt does not act in that manner at the handler’s farm, nor did he act like that in the schooling area or in the AM of the DHS.

It did not help that the handler did not have his regular show crew throughout the season (as far as loading and prep) though were present for Devon.

It was not an ideal situation that hindsight shows a much different angle. The handler has walked away from other ill behaved animals and if it was thought that the situation would escalate as it did, the horse would have been scratched. He would never endanger other exhibitors or their animals and not want to cast a bad light on himself or the horse he chose to show or leave a black mark on what could be his last appearance in HB at Devon.

Sorry for the huge run-on sentence. My iphone is being difficult.
