I’m so sorry. Hopefully the right person will come along soon.
Very good cat! Is there any physical therapy for this? Or maybe just warm blankies and a couple of Aleve or Motrin and hot tea with honey and lemon?
If I lived closer to you, I would be banging down your door. I wont get on a bucker or a rearer, but I do appreciate a responsive ride.
You have done an excellent job with your horses on being very clear on what you are asking for and they have gotten used to that. Therefore, instead maybe you can view situation as your horses having to learn to take a joke and be more tolerant of slightly muddled communication. I am sure your clients are feeling a bit tense as they are riding your personal horses, and don’t want to look like they suck. I know I would feel that way, at least for the first ride!
I am sorry to hear that you are in pain. Can you take it easy for the next day or two? Maybe the chance to sit in a recliner covered in warm blankets, pain meds and a cat will help with your pain.
Yes, yes, there is physical therapy. It is not fun…the message is…shall we say, internal? There is also lots of squats and bridges. Leaves me very sore.
Sunday I should be able to take it easy. Tomorrow I have a person coming out to interview to do some training in exchange for learning to jump (they are experienced in western) - hoping it works out as she should be able to ride my mare, and then get my pony going.
Mentally have bounced back - farrier was out and had a nice visit/chat.
My first go at physical therapy was in the army on active duty. They had a big sign “No Pain No Gain.” I love physical therapy. It has been invaluable and works better than any pain med for me. Working through to find the best exercises and stretches (and sometimes setbacks with the wrong ones) can be painful, daunting, exhausting, frustrating, and overwhelming. Once it’s the right combination and it starts working, such welcome relief. Your injuries sounded very painful. I hope your physical therapy kicks in soon and you get the relief you need.
Glad you may have found someone to ride your horses. If that works out, that is a huge help for you.
Oh, I have done a lot of physio, but it’s hard to relax while someone does an internal massage, particularly when you aren’t expecting it! (why is this room closed off? Why do I need to undress? Why all the lube on the shelf?).
Oh my! No no no nope! I wouldn’t even have heard about that method except for the creepy now convict doctor who said he was doing it with the gymnasts. You poor thing!
It’s a real thing! Who knew! It explains why my physio friend was very clear is stating I need to look for someone with the specific training. I guess there ARE some regular therapists who try to do it…with potentially damaging results.
The things you learn on COTH. I wouldn’t have had any idea. Now I am more prepared if/when I ever need pelvic floor PT.
I would say your shock at the first appointment was much like mine with my first transvaginal ultra sound.
