Bromont Event

horses in the 4S are scheduled at 5 minute intervals (vs 4 minutes in the 4L) and they have two breaks within the 4*S, presumably to allow time for JP to ride 4 horses in the division.

not a bad thing for us who will get to see more of each horse on the live feed, but not so much fun for spectators with longer waits between horses, especially if it is raining.

Yes it could have been the 3 asI’ve been turning in and out all day with work.

Was the fence repair fixed for the following horse and they just held the initial rider? I always feel bad that they have lost momentum but the announcers were saying it can really help a horse or rider catch its breath. So interesting to watch as a weenie eventer. I am loving the commentary!

Could be. It certainly seems like they’re having the variety pack of weather there today.

That’s pretty darn crazy. It would be challenging enough to ride four of the twelve horses in a low hunter class, never mind going out cross-country on them.

Jess is an absolute badass!!

I’ve had to schedule her on 7 horses in one day - I try to make sure she’s got a semi-long break (like 1/2 an hour ) to eat at some point. She is 100% badass and also brings a crew to help so they are very efficient!

Wow.

That reminds me of a day many years ago when I saw a busy rider at a horse show who had a little pause in the action waiting for a flat class to start. So she asked somebody who was coming up from the barn to go in the fridge and grab her sandwich and bring it up to the ring, and she ate it while she was sitting on the horse waiting to walk in through the ingate.

She timed it perfectly so she was chewing the last bite as they were ready to start the class. Lol.

for Karl, Colleen, Jess and Lindsay to make a strong case over the others today, they need to go clear and reasonably fast. going clear but more than a minute slow is not impressive enough to clinch a spot.

Karl is likely to secure a spot, if Bobo jumps like she normally does tomorrow.

It’s so funny how when they show the six screens at once, the color of the sky looks completely different in almost all of them. Lol.

That’s the way it’s been in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec the last few days, Tired of the weather, wait five minutes. We’re a couple hours west of Bromont and I think we had about 4 thunderstorms blow through yesterday, with sunshine in between.

With the caveat that I don’t watch a ton of cross country live, is it normal to have this many falls? I feel like every time I switch to my Bromont tab I see someone coming off.

did Jessica Phoenix fall? stepped away and saw a fall

No but this is a tough event and conditions aren’t ideal, plus pressure of Olympic selection for the Canadians.

Bromont is known to be a tough XC in addition to having a lot of terrain. Most of the time riders don’t bring horses there to do their first Longs at the level.

Thank you!

Too bad about Jess, that was so unfortunate. :pensive:
I think no one has punched their ticket to Paris, yet, even with a perfect SJ round tomorrow.
Pretty much every rider, including those who are not at Bromont, have had some bad goes. And pretty much all of them have had stellar rounds - winning some of their divisions.
There will be a lot for the selectors to think about. Unlike years past, our riders have risen to the challenges and for sure we will all support whoever is chosen.
