These are exactly what I need! Do you know the difference between the 20mm and 25mm? No where I’ve looked (even the HS website) indicates what this measurement is. I have large feet (size 11), so if it’s a measurement of the width or length of the part on your foot I’ll probably need the larger size.
Also, I should update; I told my mom I was planning on wearing brown boots in the hunter ring and she told me absolutely not. Even as an adult I know better than I say no LOL
If you are wanting to explore getting some made, just google Western Leather Chaps and both Hunt seat and Western pop up, including Hobby Horse. Fringe is optional. Cannot remember where I got the pair I still have, whoever was popular among the East Coast H/J crowd in 1994…Something like “Professional” maybe….can recommend them as well as Hobby Horse if you want custom.
The first time I Googled Ladies chaps just now I got a Biker shop in Daytona offering Bike Week specials so stick Hunt Seat or Western in the search.
I got a pair of like-new Barnstable chaps off of Poshmark for $80! There’s a ton of old Barnstable chaps on Poshmark and Ebay. Their sizing chart is still up on their website, which makes it pretty easy to find your right size. I did have to tighten the waist on mine, but it was simple to unscrew the back medallion and punch a new hole.
I have my mother’s Madras plaid saddlesuit coat, which is about the same length as a huntcoat, in a dark corner of my closet. It did go to a horseshow last year - the skeleton wore it.
I feel like full chaps have been making a soft comeback for like 5-10 years now? I ride in my 20 year old custom Journeymans in the winter and am planning on getting another custom pair of Chuck Pinnell’s (he has a 1 year wait list). The trainer and one other client at my show barn ride in full chaps in the winter too.
@stormyday I’m sad you decided not to wear the brown boots, I think they look great!
Well, it probably wouldn’t have mattered if I wore pink boots because both ponies were a little wild One was absolutely perfect but decided the only speed we could have was FAST (which was not surprising; I think she’s better suited for the jumper ring anyways) and the other went very nicely but decided to sing the song of his people the whole round and forgot he had back legs during the lead changes.
Great photos. I kind of want to see the pink boots. I show sometimes in a pink dressage coat, and someone came up to me at a show and said she loved my Barbie outfit.
