Brown dressage bridles?

Bridle arrived yesterday! Super gorgeous and soft - very well made, and very worth the $175. If it fits, I’ll be getting another. Snapped a few photos:

I’ve got a brown bridle for my dark bay pony mare, and I LOVE IT. Both it and my saddle are dark brown, and they don’t look as severe or make her look as bleached out as black tack.

Going through some of my old photos, though, you wouldn’t even notice the mix-and-match of colors:
For example, black bridle and brown saddle

I have mixed brown and black on many occasions and no one has ever said a word to me. You’re probably wearing a black coat and black boots and a black hat so that matches whatever black your leather is. If your brown tack is havana it can actually be pretty hard to even tell.

I have a dark brown and black Custom saddle and would love to find a brown and black bridle for it but it’s hard to find the right shade of brown and the right size. Kieffer makes one but the full size is enormous. That UK ebay bridle person has one but they’re crappy…their sizing also seems outrageously large. Any ideas? Mare has huge ears and I think she needs an anatomical crown.[/QUOTE]

I have an Edgewood bridle that’s brown with black peeking out underneath. Then I added black reins. Looks great. The reason I went to brown is that I was in awe of Edgewood’s leather quality, and they only make bridles in brown. If I had to buy a new bridle, it would be another Edgewood.

So we have sold quite a few of these recently:

They are black with a brown patent, swedish browband, there is a video too on that page. They look amazing on chestnuts and blacks. Also greys that still have silver in their mane, quite frankly it seems to work well with a lot of colors but really shines on a chestnut. The leather quality is stellar, these are imported from Germany and everyone who has bought an HKM bridle from us have nothing but positive remarks. You do need to order a size down with HKM though.

I wish that brown&black HKM was plain leather. I really dislike patent.

Kieffer has a gorgeous one, I think called the Andromeda. Website pics do not do it justice, I have held many in my hands… it is a rich copper/dark chestnut with stark black contrast, just absolutely gorgeous - about that rich brown of a dark brown/bay horse’s muzzle… Love it.

See U at X,

Beautiful bridle. I love the black and brown. Is that a custom Icon Star? If so, how do you like it?

Thank you! You are very close on the saddle - it’s an Icon Flight. The Star tends to put me in an uncomfortable position and hurts my lower back, but the Flight is (at this point in my riding life, anyway) my dream saddle. I ordered it for my previous horse and have had it now for about a year and a half. I really do love it and am thrilled that I finally found a saddle that puts me in a good position and and is comfortable to ride in.

We sell the above Nadine bridle that Farys mentioned. Customers love it (so do I, I personally ride in one) we also carry several other HKM bridles. They are lovely!

I also have a Flight, which I think has a narrower twist than the Star. I wanted something that fit my wide, large shouldered mare but allowed me to sit really close to her. It totally meets expectations. If you haven’t tried Customs before, they have a variety of block configurations…so make sure it works for your leg. (I couldn’t handle the external block on the Wolfgangs but the Icons are fine.)

I have a lovely dark brown Jerry’s bridle. I found it for $50 at a used tack sale!! My mare is a darkish chestnut (same color as Jazz, her dad) and it is lovely on her. I’ve had Jerry’s tack in the past and I absolutely love it. Fabulous quality, many ordering options and they just hold up forever. My saddle is black and I think with as dark as the bridle is, that very few notice it. I buy most of my stuff second hand so I have to take what I can get.
