Yeah, the business website was taken down last summer so there are no current e-mail addresses other than whatever anyone was using privately.
Just got this from Bruce’s widow –
Hi Everyone,
I think most of you know this already but there will be a party to Celebrate the Life of Bruce Gerrish on Saturday, January 16, 2009 starting around 5:00pm at my father’s house. The address is 6692 Leeds Manor Road, Orlean, VA. The phone number there is 540-3642435. There are no formal speeches planned but the hope is that we will get together, have a drink, have some food and share all of our many stories about Bruce. In case anyone asks, in lieu of flowers, etc. a donation to me to help keep the horses until some things can be dispersed and my future path appears more clearly would be a true gift that I know Bruce would have wanted. If you could all please spread the word I would really appreciate it.
I hope you all have a wonderful and happy New Year!
Thanks,
Vanessa
Bruce Gerrish
Below is the latest public relase on Bruce’s death and the clebration of life that I am aware of. Bruce’s wife Vanessa can be reached via email at vgirl@rocketmail.com. I assume she is still overwhelmed by the tragedy, so I wouldn’t expect and immediate replies.
Many of you knew Bruce, a friend to all at Old Dominion Hounds, Bruce died on December 13th at his horse farm, doing what he loved, caring for the horses he trained for the hunt field. Bruce also trained many of the subscribers within ODH including myself. Bruce was very actively involved in horses, so much that he was on the short list for consideration as an Olympic equestrian athlete for the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. He and his talents will be greatly missed.
In recognition of his contributions to ODH, his unending love of horses, hunting and things equestrian, we are going to celebrate Bruce’s’ life at the ODH kennels (6692 Leeds Manor Road, Orlean, VA 20198) on the 16th January, 2010 at 5:00 pm. (Note: Orlean is south of The Plains and west of Warrenton) The hope is that we will get together, have a drink, have some food and share all of our many stories about Bruce. His wife Vanessa requests that in lieu of flowers, etc. you would provide a donation to her to help her keep the horse farm and until her future path becomes more clear; a true gift that I know Bruce would have wanted.
My name is Andy Johnson. I knew Bruce from nursery school right through to entering college as roommates. Although I’ve kept in touch with Bruce over the years, I don’t really have any feel for his standing the equistrian community. I can tell you that among his childhood frinds, Bruce was one of the most down to earth and friendly persons you could ever meet, (execpt when he was on the ice and had is goalie stick in his hands).
He is greatly missed back in Maine.
