I give my gelding 4 oz of aloe vera juice with 2 tsp of slippery elm powder in his evening bucket (mixed together they form a thick, mucilaginous “snot” to coat the gut).

I just got a new OTTB. I’m going to have to try this after his 28 days of omeprazole treatment. Thank you for including where you purchase! That is always so helpful to know where you can get the stuff!

FWIW I found little leak proof jars (3 pack) in the housewares dept at Walmart: Made by “Systema” in New Zealand. Capacity is a little over 4 oz each–just pour in your avj, top with the slippery elm powder, screw lid on, shake and shove it in a pocket–leak proof as advertised. Makes doing aloe vera juice so easy, as it has to be refrigerated; I can keep the jug in the kitchen fridge, and because of the size of the jar, no need to measure. Love them.
