I’ve been to that show and it is lovely and fairly casual. You’ll be just fine with button braids. I showed in the regular workings with small button braids and was in the top 3 in every class at a AA show back when I had a jumper who needed some extra ring time. I also almost never braided my jr hunter’s tail and never had a problem and still won plenty. Have fun!
If the show is in December, why not learn to braid hunter braids? It’s not all that complicated and there are lots of really good Youtube Video Tutorials and it’s not a bad talent to have if you ever want to make a bit of cash on the side
Tail i wouldn’t worry about, but again, it’s not all that difficult, especially if you have a couple months to practise.
