Buying from Bowie “kill pen”?

See, I hadn’t even considered that. Ack. And it looks like Kansas requires a health certificate as well (I’m sure no one will be looking, but don’t want to get the transporter in trouble, either).

Luckily, their halters and health certs *aren’t too spendy!

(fixed the typo!)

Every time I look at an especially sweet, hopeless face, I have to remind myself that I do not have the horsekeeping setup, the rehab/training skillz, or frankly the eye to pick a diamond in the rough and polish it appropriately. My hat is off to those of you who do.

(Still, I am grateful that geographically closer auctions do not have the ridiculously user-friendly online interface that Bowie does. Because I would be sorely tempted…)

All you have to do is let 2bayboys pick them.

Are you pulling the trigger? Which horse are you looking at??

She’s no longer on the site. I just couldn’t pull things together quickly enough.

I’m going to regret this forever.

Don’t you want that sweet haflinger??? She might mend a broken heart? Poor girl made the list to Mexico.

How is that gorgeous Saddlebred gelding on the list?! He’s a little hot for me, but someone needs him!

All the props to you for being realistic about what it could require, honestly. Not all of them need someone with special skills or a special setup, but it’s hard to know what you’ll get until it’s already in the barn. I’ve been doing this for 20 ( :open_mouth: has it really been that long?) years - initially as a necessity, I was too poor to afford a nice trained horse from a reputable seller :joy:, so it was craigslist specials and auction horses for me - but I still do it because I can, and I enjoy it. And there are always nice horses waiting to be found.

They just reduced his price today as well. I was sure a saddlebred person would have pulled him by now.

He’s darling.

I’m going to Bowie today if anyone wants me to get additional pictures or take a peek 🫣

Take a peak at the 4 y/o saddlebred. Let me know all the details if you don’t mind.

You got it! Horse shopping is my FAVORITE :joy: I’ll ask if someone can trot him out for video too. He’s a cutie!

@Paint_Party The We’ll is a dangerous place :joy: I haven’t been there enough to know what’s floating through BUT the rescues seem to find A LOT of gems and of course really sad stories!

@luvmyhackney I believe there’s only one on their page but just want to be sure this is the tag number you are referring to?

Ok, logging off will check back before I hit the road to see if anyone else wants me to do a little looky loo!

We have a cother that is going to be VERY excited today with her adorable colt!

That’s him. They lowered his price enough, that even with shipping, he’s a very reasonable purchase.

He is built just like my current horse as a 4 y/o. Telling you he’s a gem, just needs to time to mature

Well that’s the coolest! I’ll see what info I can get and try to get photos of legs etc. Would love that for both of you! Ok :joy: logging off
