Buying from Bowie “kill pen”?

That’s awesome of you! If you just happen to see a sweet dark bay DHH filly with a snip and low socks, let me know. I think someone who asked about her on the Facebook page may have bought her, but, you know. Just in case.

@luvmyhackney Not much info! He came in with Kinda Kooky’s new boy! Her boy loaded like a dream so IF they came from the same spot he hopefully is somewhat reliable? They had to pull him up and away from his little buddy so he was stressed. His feet are pancakes and he needs feed.

I didn’t see this in time!!!

Excellent job on your recon mission!

That ASB looks really smooth. I’ll bet he’d be like sailing across the ground. I hope he finds a good home because, despite his lack of hoof care and feed, he’s a very pretty boy and seems sweet.

Looking forward to @Kinda_Kooky’s Bowie Bonanza. Glad he loaded easily.

That moment you are able to inhale and exhale because your trip to Mexico turned into New Mexico!! Congratulations, @Kinda_Kooky, excellent pick! This boy has the sweetest disposition with a feeling of gratitude.

Buying a horse from Bowie is NOT for everyone as discussed. But the right eye, experience and time can lead you to a really cool horse. Eyes wide open always and be open to the adventure! I promise you that there are amazing horses worth getting!

We are going to need several Bowie DHH #5082 Jerseys!

I did everything backwards on this one and it still worked out. :joy:

I got the go ahead from Mr. Kooky and went to the second Bowie page that I had been refreshing let’s say “frequently”. I had caught a severe case of the DHH fever that’s been going around here lately.

He was gone! I had a small coronary and cursed the Gods.

Crestfallen, I went to the first page and he had just been bumped to there, so being still in a panic and also overjoyed, I bought him immediately. :joy:

i did not make shipping arrangements. Or any arrangements prior.

Thanks to this forum, a fellow COTHer with an absolute heart of gold (MNick) has given him a very soft place to land while he gets gelded and prepares for his NM homecoming. I cannot thank her enough, she has made this all go so smoothly and I know he is getting the best of care!

I jumped and he landed safely, we did it all backwards and things worked out grand.

I cannot wait to meet him!

We’re supposed to plan ahead? News to me :joy: I’m so glad MNick was able to help!

He already looks stunning, can’t wait to see what he turns into

If I were younger and still had my own place, I’d be considering having you bring one another state over to Arizona. Well done, and he does look like he realizes just how fortunate he is!

If you look up “sigh of relief” in the dictionary, that would be the illustration. “Aaahhhhh…”

Congratulations, @Kinda_Kooky!

He looks beautiful and now you know from @MNick ‘s generous assistance that he’s got an easygoing personality too!

I can’t wait for Kinda Kooky to meet him and to hear her perspective. To me he seems like he came from a loving place (at some point) or had a loving start. He definitely didn’t have the same experience as my filly with people! It’s interesting to see the various mindsets that come out of Bowie. Bert and Ernie seem to have been failed by people along the way. Possibly Bert more so :grimacing: it’s not Bowie creating these horses (despite the environment). A lot of good horses end up on the wrong truck. They get moved from A to B and the distrust continues. Fortunately this sweet boy seems open (slightly cautious) to engage!

Thank you! He is in thee best hands, and I am completely lucky the situation turned out the way it did. I owe her big for this kind gesture!

I wish I could do more to help in creating a community effort to get more horses out of Bowie.

I would like it to be this easy for everyone who wants to save a horse.

@Kinda_Kooky you have been so ridiculously grateful that I think it’ll be hard to help anyone else :joy: plus your boy is so dang cute, it’s been a breeze. We will see how much he likes me when I’m there for his :scissors:

If I had unlimited funds and the bandwidth I would get them all… it was so sad leaving that Saddlebred knowing I was taking her buddy and knowing she might end up on a meat truck. I’m with you, there’s gotta be something that could be done! If we can only get the emotional Facebook posters to help out :joy: there’s one gal that says something along the lines of “going to heaven” on lists Hahaa I die every time because it’s horrible but she’s so consistent :joy:

Just want to circle back to this saddlebred! He appears to be really nice on the lead! He came from the same place as Kinda kookys horse. Her horse has proven to be very mindful and kind. Not to mention her horse is a stud colt and just gentle gentle. Just wanted to clarify that the day that I posted him he was separated from her horse for the first time since arriving at Bowie. So what we are seeing is most likely a horse that was just taken from his friend after being dumped in a stressful environment.

Not all cases are great but he might end up being a perfect gentleman once taken out of a stressful environment!

That saddlebred really has a lovely presence, doesn’t he? Very reserved and sensible.

WOWZA! Yes, that is a word and a sentence.

He’s pretty fancy but he’s a 3yr. old stud colt that isn’t even halter broke. That’s a project for someone much younger, more energetic and less breakable than me.

The Saddlebred is cute. I hope someone gets him so he doesn’t end up in the Mexican desert. Or worse.

The saddlebred is safe. I broke the news to my husband so I can make it public. Should arrive home next Monday or Tuesday.
