Calevo custom boot ordering

Can anyone advise?

I’d like to buy a pair of semi-custom Koenigs from Calevo, but I don’t see anywhere to put my measurements. There is a spot on the ordering page to indicate semi-custom or full custom but nowhere to put in my measurements. The next button is for payment. Does anyone know at which point do they ask for the measurements?

Also, does anyone know if Control Height is my actual leg height or my leg height with a drop built in? The person who did my measurements measures for Koenigs all the time and said she was doing it the Koenig way, but this whole process is making me anxious so I’m second-guessing myself.

Hi Scruffy,

I have ordered Cavallo boots from Calevo, and have had very good service. Since I don’t know how the ordering for the Koenigs work, perhaps you can email the Calevo customer service for the details. They should be able to tell you exactly what measurements are required, and how to do them. (Always more accurate to have another person do your measurements, as I’m sure you know.)

I knew what sizes/measurements I needed from another pair of Cavallos I already had. Once I placed the new order for boots, with the options desired, Calevo sent me an order confirmation with all the details for the boots. I had to review the “O.C.” for correct info, including shipping address, then sign it and fax or email it back to Calevo. Once they had the signed O.C., they placed my order with Cavallo for my boots. I think by now I’ve ordered four pairs of boots, and I have never had any issue with the customer service or the boots. PM me if I can help.

Thanks. I emailed them this morning but didn’t hear back. Are you saying you had the opportunity to enter your measurements before you placed your order? At what point in the process did you supply your measurements? That’s what I’m trying to determine.

This is my first pair of Koenigs. I have had Petries before and thought I’d try something else and reward myself for losing 30 pounds. The Koenig footbed seems to fit me nicely so it’s worth a shot. I got measured at a store (big chain) that sells Koenigs. I was very up front about wanting to get from overseas and offered to pay for the measurement service. She declined my offer, probably knowing that I spend a lot there on an every day basis and will continue to do so. She understood about having to go with the huge savings that Calevo offers. That’s a long way of saying that I think her Koenig measurements are good. I just am nervous because boot buying is a totally nerve-wracking experience on the best of days.

I went through the Konig ordering process with Cavelo. They sent me a measurement chart via email (although I believe it is also on the website), I filled it out, then emailed it back to them.

They were helpful but I chickened out when I learned of the no return policy and didn’t complete the order. My legs are hard to fit and I didn’t want to be stuck with expensive boots that I couldn’t wear. I ended up getting semi-custom DeNiros form Smartpak because I knew I could return them if they didn’t work!

Scruffy, if you have the measurements, you should be able to email them to Calevo Customer Service, and ask if any other info is needed.

My first pair of Cavallos happened to be a great steal at a local shop. So when I ordered my next pair, I used the same measurements ordering the same model. The measurements corresponded to a chart from Cavallo, based on shoe size, calf measurement and height measurement. But I did not have to hunt down that chart, I just gave my three measurements: shoe size, calf measurement, and height.

I have since ordered for different calf and height measurements, in the same model, as I got a bit more fit and needed a slimmer calf, and wanted a tiny bit taller boot, compared to my earlier boots.

I think, but I am not entirely sure, that multiple measurements as requested by Koenig will help determine if you need a fully custom boot, or if you will fit one of their “normal” custom boots. Does that make sense?

If you had the measurements done by a pro, you should be fine, and confident in placing your order. Just email all the measurements to Calevo, they will put together the Order Confirmation, and you’ll be able to verify before they submit the order to Koenig.

You can also ask Calevo to provide the size chart for the Koenig model you would like to order. I’ll post a link for the Cavallo chart that I used for the Piaffe Plus, I have it somewhere.

No matter what you decide, it will take time to receive your boots. Plan on 8 weeks, and remember that there is a long summer holiday when everything stops. Try to order in enough time to get your boots before then.

Here is the simple measurement for Cavallo Piaffe Plus. Shoe size is listed in British, European and US foot size.

And this is the size chart for the “standard” boots, based on foot size, calf and height measurements, in cm:

The far left column in bold is how Cavallo indicates height and calf combinations. If you have a measurement that does not correspond to one of those listed, you may need to order full-custom boots.

Hope that helps. I will also see if I can find a similar chart for Koenig.

This does help, thanks. I know I don’t need a custom footbed because I was able to try on a pair in my foot size in the store. I have big calves though, so I will need an extra wide calf. Petrie actually comes in my size so I probably should be thinking of them because they are so easy but I think Koenigs are prettier. That’s a good reason to get boots, right? I’m not on a schedule in any case so I can wait. My current Petries are perfectly sound, even if they look a little ridiculous because they have dropped so much over the years.

Great! I also sent you a more detailed PM about how to use the Königs size charts directly on the Calevo site. And of COURSE, prettier boots are a perfectly valid reason to order! Plus, rewarding yourself with something you will enjoy every time you put them on.

I bought custom koenigs from calevo. I actually took pictures of the measuring tape against my leg to verify I did it correctly and sent to the calevo rep. for verification.

FWIW they were plenty wide enough but a little shorter than I would have liked, even before dropping. I also got custom Koenig half chaps that are great.

I have a freakishly short leg and wide calf. Believe it or not mountain horse cheap zipper dress boots actually fit better than the custom boots!

I was going to ask if that was you!

Thanks for your feedback. I finally chickened out because of worries that what happened to you would happen to me and just went to Dover and got measured. They guarantee the boots will fit and will make it right if they don’t so I took the safe-but-expensive route. I ordered my own custom Dehner’s way back in the day and they never fit right either and these are so much more expensive, even with the Calevo prices, that I just couldn’t risk them being wrong. If they are right, I’ll use those measurements and order a fun colored pair of something in a cheaper boot next year. But for the Grandgesters I wanted to be sure.

Glad to hear you got measured and that’s great they are guaranteed.

The funny part is it’s sort of a moot point now that the custom boots weren’t quite right, because I can’t even get them on since I had my daughter ;). I guess I’d order from Calveo again, but order them a little longer now that I know. You can’t really tell they are too short when I’m riding, and the break-in wasn’t painful, so I guess I can’t complain too much.

Sooooo… can you get long gussets put in them? My story: I bought my Petries about 10 years ago, when I was thinner. Life happened and I stopped riding for a couple of years and put on 30 lbs. 2 years ago I started riding again in half-chaps because I was way too fat for my Petries. I decided to lease a horse and then buy a horse and realized that I ride like crap in my half-chaps and wanted back in my Petries. I had a cobbler put long gussets in- like 7" long ones, and I fit back into my boots. From the outside they looked the same as they ever did and I was back riding in my boots. I was very happy.

The only reason I need new boots now is that I lost those 30 pounds and the boots are 10 years old and have gotten too soft.

I know it might hurt you to cut into your lovely boots but it is way nicer to get to ride in them today instead of wondering when you might lose the weight to fit back into them. I got over the hurt of cutting into my Petries the minute I got to ride in them again. Cost much less than new boots (only about $45) too.

Well, they already have a small elastic gusset at the top, not sure about if a long gusset could be added. Maybe.

I haven’t tried to get into them since losing some more weight, you’ve motivated me to try them again. The cheapo mountain horse ones are so comfy I haven’t really had a need to pull them out. I’m also finding I’m not sure if I really like the stiffness of the konigs now that I’ve been riding in softer boots!

Keep in mind that this board has a pretty strict no advertising policy. Posting in every thread related to tall boots is probably going to get you into trouble.
