Can Heavyweight Hunters Be Light in the Bridle?

Been looking for video of heavy hunters galloping in the show ring, as one does when it is pouring with rain. Not much luck but did find this

Fast forward through the boring bits with cars and wait for the Kings Troop Musical Ride, right at the end. The guns are from WW1 and weigh nearly a tonne each. Royal Windsor is a really good show because there is so variety in each day.

Then there is this video of HOYS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EN3WSXh4LgY which does show the hunters and hacks and ponies and cobs and lots of lovely horses.

Yay! Found one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXQ4GUX7lhk

My old gelding, who I showed in the eighties would probably have qualified as a heavy hunter, or close to it. I don’t remember the exact description of a heavy hunter but he was one big boy. He was very light and soft to ride. I cannot take credit for that, he was very well trained before I got him. I was very lucky to have him as he taught me a lot.
