My vet recommended adding flaxseed to my mare’s diet. He said to go with whole seeds since they’re more stable and less likely to spoil. I can’t imagine he would have made this recommendation if it couldn’t be digested.
I m feeding whole flax and still seeing a major difference in shiny coat, less flybite reactions and better muscle definition. I intended to purchase stabilized ground flax and worried about my horses not getting full benefit but I am seeing results. No birds eating undigested seeds and the added benefit is it will help keep sand out of my horses guts I hope…horse stalls surroinded by sand arena. Ugh.
