Can Icelandics be turned out with big horses?

I had one suspicious of Apps, too. And he was one :woman_shrugging: I guess he never looked in a mirror. My current 17H-er is suspicious of ponies. Turn out with them? Fine. Riding? The smaller, the more evil they must be.

Great reference :joy:

My large gray mare is terrified of minis. The farm where I board used to have three minis turned out together in a front field that we had to walk past every time we wanted to get to the trails. Let’s just say that my horse never became desensitized!

On the other hand, there is an Icelandic that is in the pasture right next to hers and has been for a few years. They love each other. He’s small, even by Icelandic standards, something like 13.2, but as far as my horse is concerned, he’s gorgeous!

But the Icelandic cannot be turned out with other horses because he goes after them with teeth bared–mares, geldings, it doesn’t matter. But over a fence-line, he’s (apparently) a charmer!

May I Hijack?
Friend’s 4yo nephew wants to ride one of friend’s Belgians in Leadline class at Fair this year.
Aside from the very real problem of finding a saddle to fit both little kid & 19H Draft , I’m thinking Gigantor’s presence in a packed (34 entries last year) arena might cause mayhem.
Thoughts?
