I have a gelding with two small (quarter-sized) patches of sarcoids- one forming on the outside of his left forearm, the other on the back of the right forearm. My vet has prescribed Xxterra, but I’m concerned about him rubbing his face on them once the cream has been applied. My vet is supposed to call me back about this (still waiting…), but does anyone know if you can lightly wrap over Xxterra? I’m thinking some gauze with a little Elasticon to hold it in place. I would think that Xxterra would NOT be something you would want getting in your horse’s eye!
We used imiquimod instead of Exterra on the sarcoid on my horse’s face. The sarcoid got very ugly, but was gone in 2 weeks. An advantage of imiquimod is that it does not affect skin unless there is tumor present. If it gets on normal skin, it won’t cause irritation.

All I can say is that stuff really worked for our horse. He had big old sarcoids and now they are gone.
