Can we have an Adult Hunter/AO Championships?

There is a Wellington event run by EyeCandy that does something like this… it’s a polo player, a dressage rider and a grand prix rider. They call it the equestrian triathlon. They do it for charity and it’s usually a well-attended and well-promoted event.

Yeah, agreed.

PG already has Cap Challenge and WIHS. Plus they do that local circuit there during the spring/summer time of year… so probably also has a fair share of scheduling challenges. I’d think that Tryon or KHP might be the answer since they have enough rings. The only hesitation about Tryon is that you miss out on anything outside of the general venue. Literally nothing to do for miles. I really wish they’d throw more money into building out that area. Great venue, but in the middle of nowhere… needs a hotel on that circle and some other shops/restaurants less than 10 miles away.

Much like WEC Ohio. I love the facility but the food leaves much to be desired and there is nothing for miles. Still, I do love it.

Would suggest Morven Park like a million times over PG equestrian center, if DMV is the direction anyone is trying to go with this for a location… 4 big rings, GGT footing, beautiful property, plenty of hotels and food right around the corner. Leesburg has the most darling little downtown. Orchards, breweries and wineries within 20 minutes.

Totally agree, we need an event specifically for Ammys. I would love if there was no qualifier or a very low qualifier (similar to PF where one champion gets you in), but I’d say that it has to be the Ammy rider who gets champion, and if they need to swap horses bc Dobbin turned up lame last minute, I think it should be allowed.

I think companies would be ALL OVER THIS! I would certainly recommend that the company I work for (we sell horse products) be there, that is for sure.

I also like having the option for an east coast/west coast option so its more accessible to people.

Dressage rider here: My USEF Region (3) ran a Amateur only Regional Championships last summer. It was kind of an experiment, only Training thru 4th levels, no FEI tests or Freestyles. I did not attend but understand it was pretty successful. Will see how it expands this year. I dont know who started the idea or how it went thru USEF, etc. but it seemed that the Regional part was a good idea.

Hello. Just an FYI, this topic came up on the recent USHJA town hall. There are more virtual town halls scheduled if you would like to share your opinions with the leadership. The next one is May 22 at 7pm ET. The list of dates and times and links to register is available here
